Who else is glad they do NOT have a trip planned right now?

Ummmmm...... if this is still a test...... where is the "click here to opt out" button?

An "Opt out" is not a requirement for a testing phase.

You can't opt out of the testing of an emergency broadcast signal, either.. Suppose I don't want to experience the test, I want to keep listening to music, and I'll take my chances with having to look out the window for the tornado.

Disney wants to have results from everyone. If there is an opt out, maybe they don't get a large enough sample. They aren't forcing you to participate because they want you to be as miserable as possible. They are doing it because that's what they want the statistics to be based on.

What things have they ACTUALLY TWEAKED since the beginning of this "testing" phase. Is there any part of it that has been repealed or changed due to it either not working correctly or guest feedback?

I don't think there's any way for us to know that unless someone from Disney IT is a member here. It might not be as dramatic as repealing something. When my laptop gets a Windows update, I'm not often aware of exactly what was changed either...though Microsoft obviously felt the need to change it.

At least they don't charge me thousands of dollars each time I participate in that test.

Truthfully, we have no idea how much we are being charged for the emergency broadcast system. Somewhere worked into the wonderful world of taxes, we're being forced to pay for it. If it's thousands of dollars though, we've got a problem. :lmao:

You're free not to participate by not going.

True, for those of us who are immersed daily in discussing this on the DIS, if we still choose to go, we are "opting in." But a high number of people who booked vacations are arriving without being told ahead of time that testing is occurring. They are being blindsided and we're not afforded that same choice. They have already paid, they are already there, and they don't know until they set foot in the park what impact this testing will have on their very expensive vacation.

They are the ones I feel for the most.

I enjoyed our "opt out" to the other coast. :)

I will never, ever understand how someone in this day and age can pay the kind of money we're talking about for a vacation and not do basic research.

You're right, they're there. They've always been there. There have always been people who showed up at noon and were amazed to find that there were no more Fastpasses left for TSM, or that there was such a thing as a fastpass at all- or who spent their whole vacation thinking that those suckers with the fastpasses had paid extra money for them.

And, as much as I reallly don't understand them, they have my sympathy.

In all the research I have done on Disney though...... I would never have foreseen what I saw in the pictures posted this weekend from the MK.

Right there is the problem. :sad2: Ummmmm...... if this is still a test...... where is the "click here to opt out" button?

You can opt out- you can get a card instead of magic band and not make fp+ reservations. However by opting out you don't get to use any fp system at all. There are no computer glitches with the standby lines. Not that this is a good solution- but if someone really wants to opt out they can.

Could you possibly point me towards them? I want to make the case for some real planning.

A lot of those people who don't prepare in advance had no idea what things were like before, had no idea how paper FP worked, had no idea how to go about touring the park, and wouldn't have used paper FP at all. Remember those stats that only half of the guests got ANY paper FP at all.

Those guests may have been blindsided, but the result may have been that they got 3 FPs that they wouldn't have had otherwise and had a great time, doing more attractions than they would have done. And they don't know or don't care that people on the Dis think that they shouldn't have enjoyed themselves because of their opinions that WDW is a mess right now.

What things have they ACTUALLY TWEAKED since the beginning of this "testing" phase. Is there any part of it that has been repealed or changed due to it either not working correctly or guest feedback?

They added tiers- which so many people dislike ere; however, they were likely added because guests complained about not being able to get fp+ for the popular rides at dhs and Epcot. They addressed it by limiting everyone to one e ticket at those parks.

They added be our guest lunch reservations independent of your other three fast passes.

There have been tweaks to the compute us ten and app to make things more user friendly (it's still not a good system technologically but it's loads better than it was four months ago)

Also remember not all guests give the same feedback as the average dis'er. Most people did not get 10 fps in a day- it was reported in a thread a few days ago the average night have been around 2.5. People who didn't used to get three likely give positive feedback. Just because you're not seeing changes that you want doesn't mean Disney isn't responding to guest's concerns.

You really should read through the top few FP+ threads in this forum. Read anything posted over the weekend. This post is a good start. This thread had some of the photos, but they are scattered throughout.

I have opted out and am very excited about my DL trip.

The deciding factor was not if the MB worked or not, it was the scheduling. I do not want to schedule every minute of my vacation. I also do not want to spend half the day standing in line. I do not want to need a fast pass for a counter service lunch, I have already given up sit down meals because I don't want to make an ADR 180 days in advance. Therefore my option is not going to WDW. I'm taking it.

If I need a Disney fix in the future I will choose DL or maybe DCL. As long as they keep the scheduling out of those options, I will take them.

I am more of a lurker, read and learn, and I popped in on DIS to just check in, thinking "I've been multiple times, I know how the pick the right day to go works, avoid EMH when off site, etc etc" .
Honestly, as embarrassing as it is to admit, the first few days on here, I kept seeing the FP+ threads, and I assumed it was a new extra for onsite guests, never did I imagine WDW would do away with FP when it was working, I thought, so well.
Thank goodness I finally decided to click on one of the FP+ threads, thankful, but also now my dread has begun..
My only positive, is we don't go until November, so either A, Disney makes some positive changes for those like us, who stay offsite, or B we will still go to Disney, but instead of the 5 day park hopper, we will get a 1 or 2 day, and be done with WDW and spend the rest of our time elsewhere where we wont feel like our $$$ is being spent to stand in long lines.

PS, we never abused the old FP, we just knew how to utilize it. :)

My fingers are slightly crossed, don't want to get a cramp waiting...:sad2:

I also am not sure that just b/c this is what WDW PR is telling us means it is true. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't say, well we messed up. Most people used 5-6 FP per day based on surveys and the new system won't work that way. Sorry everyone. I am also sure if they had to spin this weekends roll out at MK they would say it went well, with a few snags but overall customers were happy to get their FP+.

As I said before, anyone going to Disney should be researching what's going on at that point, and know that it's a risk. Things are always changing, and it's irresponsible not to do your research. It works that way for everything. If you decide to take a vacation to the beach, and you don't do any research and just blindly go to your hotel, you may find that a hurricane destroyed the local pier last hurricane season. Maybe you planned to fish off of that pier and now your vacation isn't what it could have been.

Spending thousands of dollars on a vacation and blindly going on the vacation with little to no research is vastly irresponsible. Someone who does that, especially for WDW, is setting themselves up for a mess of a vacation, and likely has issues with or without MM+.
