Who do you tip and how much?

Tipping is a new process for us. My husband is (cheep) in the mindset that no one get's tipped and I always leave a tip at the end of the stay for the housekeeping staff (everywhere we go). Who along the way should get a tip and how much?

we tip the bell services people when they bring the bags up to the room and if we use them when leaving we also tip them. We give them 1-2 dollars per bag they handle. we do tip the mousekeepiing people, usually daily since doing it at the end we may end up tipping someone who only cleaned the room that one day. Not sure who else you may run into that you should tip.

On our last trip, we tipped the bellman who brought our bags to our room, and then one who took it down to our car when we left. We also tipped the housekeeping staff each morning.

As mentioned above we tip bell services any time we use them. Housekeeping we tip $5 per day for 4 people and yes, you should tip daily, not at the end of the stay. When we use the local park n fly at the airport, we tip the person who shuttles us to the airport (and back to the car when we return) $1 - $2 per bag. For Magical Express you do NOT tip if you are NOT bringing any bags with you, otherwise $1 - $2 per bag. If you use remote/resort airline check in at your resort, again the $1 - $2 per bag.

We tip valet $4.00 - $5.00 each time our car is brought to us.

DH tips the bellman, but I don't know how much.

we'll give the guy at the luggage counter a few dollars, but beyond that, $5 a day in an envelope for the maid is all we tip

According to Emily Post's guidelines on tipping:


Skycap
$2 first bag, $1 per additional bag

Doorman
$1-$2 for carrying luggage
$1-$2 for hailing cab
$1-$4 beyond the call of duty

Bellhop
$2 first bag, $1 per additional bag

Housekeeper
$2-$5 per day, left daily

Magical Express $4
We tip the bellman $4 (if we are around when he delivers luggage)
Mousekeeping $4 a day, if I ask for specific items $6 (4 of us, 2 are messy teenage boys)
