Just a thought...Maybe we would not have to have deep cuts if the current government had not LOST so much of our money...

I'm not against the Liberals...I'm against people STEALING MY MONEY!!!! I just can't reward that....

I agree Photobear Sam::yes::
but not only did they LOSE our tax dollars.....they gave them( $$) to THEIR friends and not to where they should have been used.

Hi Mickey 65, haven't seen you on the boards in awhile, but I guess by the number of your posts and mine, I'm the one who hasn't been here much. Hard to type with a broken arm....but its getting better.

Oh by the way Photobear Sam and Mickey 65, ...this may be hard to believe but guess who turned 20 today? Yep my Darling DD (known as Katdb) on these boards.

:earseek: OH HELP, I'M GETTING OLDER!!!!!!
Wenabre

This will be the last Canadian election that we can vote in :( , since our move to Texas 4 years ago. We mailed our ballots in a couple of weeks ago... for our Conservative candidate in Oshawa!

Liberal corruption does not deserve another chance. Why anyone would vote for more of this mess is beyond me. Time to get back to basics with sound conservative thinking.

You're not getting older wenabre....You're getting seasoned with wisdom and you could always try to say she's your kid sister...

:rotfl:

Happy Birthday katdb....Miss you both like crazy...Love Sam:cake: :bday: :cake:

If your voting based on something that happened then your voting for the wrong reasons.

Vote for the platform you agree with, not as a "protest" vote.

The conservatives screw over the people every time. All they care about is money and business.

I think some of you are missing the point.

My DD is really excited since this will be her first election. She has her mind made up...and it's not the party of her father's family "tradition".

In our extended family, we have many differing ideas. We accept that everyone has their right to their opinion, and it works....usually-right, girls?

I've just finished replying at my "teacher board" and this is what I wrote:

Yes, I will vote (thanks, I've added it to my To Do list for tomorrow) and I have not yet decided. . .totally. . . who I will vote for. I do know that:
1) I don't want to waste my vote
2) I don't like that money was misused
3) I don't want a Mike Harris/Btian Mulroney wanna be get my
vote (sorry-still raw from past governments)
4) I didn't see or hear from any of the parties this time
5) my darling daughter will be voting for the first time
tomorrow YEAH! and
6) we will likely cancel out each other's vote (she's a staunch
NDP this go 'round)
7) my vote will likely go to the party that will do the
least damage to the country and to the programmes that I hold
close to my heart

~who has voted every party in the past ;)

My personal hope is that we do not end up at the polls again for a few years. Let's get some work DONE!

The economy was better in the days of Mulroney...Anyone here remember the dollar at .92 US...????? I do!!!!

This is not a protest vote...I can't take another 4 years of mismanaged money.

It's nice to have social programes but we need money managed better than the Liberals have been doing it.

I don't want sponsorship scandals, military helicopters falling from the sky and broken promises....(Read my lips...No more GST said Jean....NOT!!!!)

We have to stir things up and if it's between a government that has stolen from the Canadian public or somthing new...I pick something NEW....It's can't be much worse.

Wow - I find it fascinating how diverse everyone's opinions are! People seem to be very angry with the liberals right now but I remember a time not so long ago when people were equally (if not moreso) angry with the conservative party. I can see wrong-doings by both parties (when they were in power) at the federal and provincial levels.

For me, it comes down to the basic platforms that the parties stand for. I could sit here and talk about lying, etc...., but that's not why I'm voting tomorrow. Frankly, I love Canada as I'm sure all of you do as well. I like what makes us different from the US and it frightens me to think of what could happen to the Canada I love if Harper were to get into power. I believe in liberal policies despite recent controversy. It is these beliefs that I will carry with me tomorrow.

Well, I think all politicians are equally corupt in one way or another, but I will be voting Liberal tomorrow. I can't believe the support the conservatives have received, but I can't vote for them because they are the equivalent of the Bush administration and we can all see how that has destroyed America! In the words of Michael Moore "if Canada votes conservative they will be taking a huge step backwords"

Of course I think the big mouse should be the big cheese::MickeyMo

I'm going to vote for whatever party promises to put a Disney park in Canada!

;)

George Bush has destroyed the United States? When did that happen? Who cares what Michael Moore thinks - since when did Canadians listen to anyone, particularly the hated "Americans" when it came to being told how to vote? I wonder if people would be as supportive of Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly's view on how they should cast their ballot.

What amazes me is that people feel that Harper can be held accountable for what he might do in the future - shouldn't the Liberals be held accountable for WHAT THEY HAVE DONE ?

And as far as gay marriage and the Iraq war, we can play "what about" all day long. For instance, with respect to gay marriage "what about" Dennis Mills who supports the traditional definition of marriage? "What about" Paul Martin's appointed Defense Minister, David Pratt (a man who I have a great deal of respect for BTW) who WAS ALSO IN FAVOR OF SENDING TROOPS! "What about" Don Boudria and Tom Wappel who are pro-lifers? These "radical right wing" thinkers exist in the Liberal party also.

If Harper screws up the country as bad as everyone thinks he will, kick him out in four years, but to return the Liberals to power notwithstanding all of their scandal and theft is far more dangerous; it sends the message that they can get away with just about anything - even when the Canadian people find out![

I am also going to be voting based on platforms. I want to vote for the party who is more accepting of people's differences. I also want to vote for the party who cares more for child welfare. I do not believe that a 2000 tax break for parents is the best place to spend money to help children and when Harper says, at a debate, "I care about children, I own some" I can not vote for that party. I think it will have to be the liberals for me. Not a great choice I agree, but unfortunately the best there is.

Election Day is here and the poll on this thread is still showing the conservatives with 50% of the votes. I sure hope that's the way it ends up tonight.

Vote which ever way your conscience will allow. I already did 10 days ago.

Good luck to all the hard working candidates that are brave enough to put their names out there today.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Disfan2....

We can give Harper a kick at the can and if he fails too...then out he goes in 4 years...but to vote Liberal again...that would be to merely endorse and support all they have already done to us! I cannot do that I am afraid.

See you at the Polls!;)

DisFan2 and minnie56.... Well said!!!!

See you all at the polls...

Let justice be done though the heavens fall...

Why in the world would anyone believe Michael Moore? Do you have any information that anything he says is true and unbiased. He is in the business of making money and what better way than to trash American politics that he doesn't agree with.

My mother tells me that when she got into work today she had at least 10 emails that had somehow slipped past their junk mail filter. All of them said "don't vote for the liberals, vote for Stephen Harper and here's why".

I've had the automated phone calls/voicemails from the NDP and the Conservatives, and now spam from the Conservatives.

Add that to things I don't like about technology.
