Who are these characters from Epcot ?(in Italy I believe)... please help!

Okay.... I consider myself very knowledgeable about WDW, but I'm drawing a blank here. I am printing some photos from our January 2002 trip (trying to finish up the scrapbook... and no comments about how late I am!) and I do not know what to call these characters. Sorry I cannot post the photos... I am technilogically challenged. I will describe......

I believe the photos were taken in Epcot's Italy.... they are costumed people and their costumes are as follows.... a woman in all white with gold trim, white mask, white fluffy hat, white mask, holding a tambourine. With her was a man in a black/red/white harlequin type outfit with black/red/white mask, white ruffled collar and black/white hat with red pompom. Also there was a man and woman dressed in gold/black medieval type outfits with pointed hats and gold masks. And finally a man dressed in black/gold medieval type outfit also, with a black/gold painted face.... he was up on a balcony or the top of some stairs. WHAT ARE THEY CALLED?? They were all seen within one hour at Epcot in the same area, like I said, most probably Italy. I wish I could share the photos, they are really wonderful.

In fact, I also have pics of my DD's with them! But, sorry, I do not know who/what they are called! But I do know tht they are found in the Italy pavilion!

They are the Masquerade. I can find no other name for them so I think it is it. They are very cool aren't they?

They are listed as "Masquerade" on the daily Epcot schedule. DD fell in love with one of the characters during our last visit and she followed him all over the plaza. He ended up taking her by the hand to bring her back to us, then gave her a rose he was carrying and kissed her hand!! Great memory!

As far as I know they are no longer appearing at WDW. So cool to ave the pictures. They were neat.

They were still appearing as of April of this year.

They weren't there in May and it's my understanding that they are gone. I really liked them too. I'm glad I have some pictures of them.
