Whitewater Snacks

I'm one of the peeps that chimed in the WWS is a hidden gem, but oddly enough, I don't disagree with you.

For us, approximately 90% of the food at DLR is either just OK, or fairly bad. We have to lower our bar when we are at DLR, so the standards we would use anywhere else don't apply.

I so know what you mean. We always recommend WWS, not because it's GREAT, but because it's decent, OK in quality and affordable, compared to most other choices at DLR. We keep going back to WWS because it's so nice and quiet there and gives us a nice short break from the parks.

About 8 years ago, WWS was actually really good; but each year we visit, the quality has gone down and we have lowered the bar for food at DLR as well.

Storytellers Cafe is another disappointment. However, on the bright side, Goofy's Kitchen has remained the same as we've always known it to be, and Cafe Orleans is a new favourite.

Our fave things to order at WWS is the chicken sandwich with the guacamole and the beef dip.

Thank you for posting this. We have eaten at the the listed places and have found that all are about the same, just different selections, which appeal to different tastes. A great meal to me is Ruth Chris, Mortons, SS55. We do love WWS because we really have never had a bad meal. When we stay at GCH it was so easy to pop in, get the food and go.

Well, I would certainly hope that you would get a much better meal at Ruth Chris, SH55, etc. :) The places I mentioned above I guess is what I would consider the best CS places at DLR but obviously everyone has a different opinion on that. Unfortunately I've never had the opportunity to stay at GCH but I can see how WWS would be great for guests staying there.

I can totally understand those as good reasons to recommend WWS but what I don't understand is people raving about how absolutely delicious the food is since to me it's just okay. But again, I know evryone has a different opinion about food. It's fun to hear everyone's views about different restaurants though so I enjoy all the food threads. :goodvibes

We at at WWS three times when we were at DL last month. I have to say that it was OK and just OK foodwise. The CM's there were all very friendly, the place is very clean and there was always plenty of tables. But the food was just OK, nothing to rave about. We ate there because it was convenient staying at the hotel.

One morning was breakfast, Mickey Waffles all round, can't go wrong with them, tasted the same as everywhere else we had them.

Two lunches, Salad, hotdogs and burgers. Again, they were just OK, not bad, but not great. If we were wanting a light lunch, we preferred to go to Carnation Cafe for a bowl of loaded potato soup. It was just as reasonably priced.

I keep hearing rave reviews about WWS's food but have yet to try it...and I live 15 minutes away! :rolleyes1 We're going on Monday so I'm hoping to try the nachos! YUM!

I appreciate the help everyone! Ever since MC donalds left DCA we don't each myuch there any more... We usually bring in subway or tacos from Taco bell. It is just our first time ever to spend the night at the parks and have some mom and kid time. SO I wanted to go some place different..
I had a feeling I knew where it was. I just dind't want to look like a dip stick. We've been AP holders for years and have over 200+ visit on us, yet never eaten there.

We only get the Hot Fudge Sundae from DL. Once in a while the chicken strip, but mostly we bring our food.

Everone have a wonderful weekend and thanks for the help. I'll let you know how the surprise trip goes. I think the kids will be liking the mickey waffles!:goodvibes

Definately do the nachos!

I did not have the nachos last time, but my friend did, and I have been thinking about them every time someone mentions WWS..That is my first have to have in May!

If by comparable, you mean other CS restaurants then I would say that the sandwiches at Riverbelle Terrace are among my favorites. The turkey sandwich is made with real carved turkey, not deli meat plus it comes with some sides and they have a nice condiment bar to load up your sammy. :) Other favorites are chicken and veggie skewers at Bengal BBQ (although i heard someone say recently that they lowered the quality on the chicken so not sure about it now) and DH and I really like the ribs at Taste Pilot's Grill. They're a bit pricey for CS so we split a 5 rib meal. Full throttle fries are also really good there but haven't tried them since they switched to "regular" fries. We tried the cheeseburgers at TPG because of rave reviews we heard but we weren't impressed - they were just regular theme park burgers so it's disappointing to us Red Robin regulars.

I also think that Carnation Cafe and Wine Country Trattoria are priced fairly reaonable and I really like the food at both of these restaurants. The meals don't cost much more than CS, although then you have to pay tip of course.

Does that answer your question?

Yeah, not a fan of cheese sauce on "real" nachos either. If I was at a ballgame or something I would be fine with cheese sauce but not at a place that is trying to serve something a little fancier with all that extra stuff piled onto the nachos. We also don't like how thick the chips are. We like the thinner ones better.

Yes, I can see how you would be impressed at WWS after having that buffet experience for that price. I do like the location of WWS so I'm not against trying it again but there are just other places I would rather eat at.

I agree with Riverbelle Terrace. Very nice sandwiches, one of our favorites. I guess it's realative. When you are at Disney you don't expect super food, you expect super prices. So, WWS I found to have above average food at below average prices (although those have been creeping up) The breakfast burrito is really good and reasonable, and I really like the french dip, but heard it's gone. I frankly like the cheese goo once in awhile and found the thicker chips to be nice...more like homemade. The lobster ones I would not like..I don't like lobster..it seems to me the higher end places at Disney really slant toward seafood which I don't like. I would also be angry at the buffet if the quality and service were so poor. When we did our ABD we had character breakfasts at Storytellers, Goofy's and Mickey's, and we have had the Ariel's Princess one twice. They were all fine. I like Mickey's best, with Ariel's coming in a close second.

Sorry to be chiming in again, but I'm hungry :) I finally had the soup at Carnation and although it was good, I thought the potatoes had that odd once frozen flavor. My friend had the pot pie which she said was very good. I'd have both again, but really..the soup was a little disappointing because of the potato texture.
