White NAACP Leader Who Passed As Black

The story just gets worse by the minute with all the lies.. Seems like she sued Howard for discrimination in 2002 because she said they discriminated against her for being WHITE... so I guess she is whatever race gets her what she wants.
Whining opportunist.

Thank you. I had to go look it up.
Love The Smoking Gun.

So, according to court documents obtained by The Smoking Gun, I guess Ms. Rachel Moore (Dolezal) hadn't quite "achieved blackness" yet and didn't identify as being black since she sued Howard University for discrimination because she was white. Unbelievable. I guess that throws out the "I have identified with being Black since I was living in a tipi and hunting for my food" theory.

I'm not sure if you think I'm advocating for Ms. Dolezal, but I can assure I'm not. It's more of an attempt to understand the thought processes that our society goes through as it faces different, but arguably similar, issues.

The bold is where many of us disagree with you. Most of us do not see the Dolezal and Caitlyn Jenner situations as being "arguably similar." One has made an art out of lying which has afforded her great standing within a community and tremendous financial gain. Another hasn't. No similarities.

You are saying she hadn't gone "full Black"?

Stop posting this stuff while there is a chance I am drinking a Coke and can spew it. Plus, the risk of an asthma attack from laughing is always present.

BREAKING NEWS-our local university just announced that they have removed her bio from the university website because she is no longer employed by them (her contract expired last Friday), she was also terminated as a regular freelance for one of our local papers (she wrote regular opinion columns). now it's up to the city of Spokane to determine what happens with the ombudsman's chair position she holds.

However, Ms. Dolezal's apparent belief that she is Transracial is not unique, as witnessed by the NYU prof's comments. Do your sentiments apply to others that wish to self-identify with a race other than the ones prescribed by their DNA?

Can someone please tell me where "our culture" states this??
Because we are now supposed to accept anything people say they want to be. There are no morals or standards anymore. No solids...we live in a land of shifting wobbling jello. Marry your father, marry 6 women, pick a color...any color, don't work but have an iphone, be a thug and cry discrimination when you're arrested, turn your back while brave men die and then ask why it matters....it's an insane world.

I have zero sentiments about people who want to self-identify with a race other than the ones prescribed by their DNA. They can self-identify as a rooster for all I care! My issue is only with people who lie and deceive to get something, especially financial gain and sympathy.

Should she be given an award for bravery like Caitlyn Jenner?

Caitlyn Jenner never lied about being Bruce first. Rachel didn't come out and say 'Hey I was born white, but I've always felt that I was really black, so I'm going to change my skin color, my hair and lie about my family , oh and ask them to lie about me as well. So that I can live life as my true racial identity."

She lied about being black, she lied about being Native American, she lied about the identity of her father. She used those lies to get into college and to get a job. She lied about her experiences growing up and living as an African American.

She's not brave she's a liar.

I saw she's going to be on the Today show tomorrow morning.

Huge mistake on her part. She's being vilified everywhere. Her best chance of leading a somewhat normal life would be to lay low (WAY LOW), move, and start living an honest life.

I wonder how long before we read about a big fat book deal. :crazy2:

Here's the thing. I do not accept for one second that she has an actual belief or true feeling that she is transracial. There is no "apparent belief." There is a con, a lie, etc. YOU can believe that she believes it, but I never will. I see someone who conned people for years and counted on others to cover for her. This is a classic case of The Emperor Has No Clothes. And under Rachel's clothes, she's White and she knows it.

Insane is definitely a good word to recap all of this. Makes me want to slap a horn on my horse's forehead, call her a unicorn ( because that's what she really is  ) climb on her back, and fly off to another universe.

So she resigned with a 500 word letter which did not include the words "I'm sorry". The former president is willing to forgive her and is holding a demonstration tonight to "start the healing process". What needs to heal? Kick the lying crap to the curb and move on.

I'm not stating anything about what she does or doesn't believe. This isn't about Jenner v. Dolezal, it's much wider than that. As I stated several pages ago, it's a query about the standards used to determine which types self-identification move beyond simple "not caring" to a social norm where there is an expectation that such self-identification should be acknowledged and respected. Because of Dolezal, "Transracial" has entered the national spotlight to some degree. Whether Dolezal is a pure con artist, or views herself as "Transracial" and felt she had to invent enough elaborate back stories to support her identification, or if she has the worst case of white guilt ever recorded, I don't think we can say for certain until we hear her reasons for what she has done (but we can guess all we want). But the "Transracial" notion doesn't begin and end with her.

As for simply "not caring what someone calls themself"... I'll save that for Boomer the Dog.

Watching the interview now. Her story is unravelling. Presumably she did this interview to share her side of the story. Her excuses and ramblings are making her look worse if that's possible.
