White lit up window in castle. Why?

I saw it on www. hiddenmickeys . org

Just type that into your browser.

Yes there is an apartment, but since Walt died years before the castle was built, it could not be "Walt's apartment". That was my only point.

I misinterpreted what the OP was talking about because in a post a few months ago, someone asked about the "White window" in front of the castle and actually was asking about the medalion where the pictures of the castle are. I have seen pictures of the window with a light on at night now and don't know why it's lit. But since the castle was built in 1969 and Walt died in 1966, the light may be a tribute to him, but isn't to light his former apartment.
From Wilkipedia.com :
The Disney Apartment
Inside the upper levels of Cinderella Castle, there is a penthouse that was intended to be an apartment for Walt Disney and his family when they were in Florida. After Walt Disney died in 1966, the apartment was left unfinished. Instead, the penthouse served as the operations area for Vista United Telecommunications (switchboard operators). It now serves as dressing rooms for the entertainers performing in the shows at the Castle Forecourt Stage.

and from the DIS site:
One of the upper floors includes an unfinished apartment originally constructed for use by the Disney family. The room now serves as a change room for Tinker Bell as she prepares for her nightly flight.

It is always good to have back up sources when using Wikipedia considering anyone at all can change the info in that site. Wikipedia is among the most unreliable web sources. ;) (Just to remind or inform anyone who didn't know ::yes:: )

Pardon if anyone mentioned this already. I did see a documentary special the other day about Disney and they said that it had been planned as his apartment for him and his family to use, but he died before he could see his dream realized in Florida. They used it for an Operator's room for a bit, but now it is just storage. There is a private elevator that leads up to it :)

I think it is neat that the light is left on, and I choose to think of it as him shining over his Kingdom.

:)

I remember when I was in Kindergarten and my family got to go to Disneyland because it was Lockheed employee night. My Dad told me that the lights in the trees were Tinkerbell fairies and if I looked really carefully, I might actually get to see one. I stared at those trees all over the place, and remember how magical it all seemed like the place was sprinkled with Pixie Dust. It is one of my favorite memories. I still have the little porcelain Tinkerbell miniature tea set that he bought me in the gift shop...

*sigh* I hope my kids find it all as Magical as I did and still do. Oh, I can't wait to share this with them. *gush*

A lot of sites (including allearsnet.com) used the same text as Wikipedia, so I just chose that one to post.
I couldn't find it when I searched this time, but in the past, I have seen an interview with an Imagineer where he basically said the same thing (except that he added that the area had been used for storage in between the past use for Telecommunications and the current use as a "green room/dressing room" for performers.
He did say that even though it was planned as an apartment for the Disney family's use, it was never completed as an apartment and was just a fairly large open area.
