Whistle While We Work (This house is for the birds!) (And Mice)
This is the part of my trip reports when I generally will post pictures of the place I am staying. I told Teena that I wouldn’t post pictures of her home but she told me to go ahead.
Teena and Bob’s Florida home is beautiful. They built the home when they moved to Florida and it was truly thoughtfully designed. And of course I LOVE all of the Disney touches. It is heartwarming to know that Teena (and I learned Bob, too) had the opportunity to work at a place that was so special to them.
I had my own bedroom and bathroom during my stay.
One of the things that Teena and Bob loved most about this home was that these Sandhill Cranes would come and visit daily. I wanted to make sure I got some pictures.
Fri Jan 8-
Although we got to bed late Thursday night, for me anyway (around 11:30 pm), I was up bright and early the next morning. Teena said it was ok for me to go onto her computer, so I checked in on Facebook and the DISboards. I think I even posted, letting people know I had hijacked her account.
Teena told me one of the tasks we would be working on was the storage drawer- you know, the one everyone has with pencils, elastic bands, batteries, etc. I tackled this while Teena was still asleep. I gathered everything into piles and then we decided what would be tossed, what would be packed and what would stay in the drawer or out on the counter until the move.
Jeanne and her friend had done a lot of work the previous week going through closets and packing up stuff when she and Lily were visiting for Christmas break. The main thing I needed to do that day was the garage, since Teena’ COPD prevented her from that type of work.
I remembered to pack headphones, so I was listening to music while I was dusting off and moving boxes, breaking down and cleaning plastic shelves and recycling/trashing things she wouldn’t be needing.
I was out in Teena’s driveway dancing and singing (quietly) while scrubbing the shelves.
Things are always easier when we “Whistle While We Work”
Apparently, though, the cranes are not helpful with household tasks like the bluebirds in Snow White and the mice in Cinderella because they were nowhere to be found while we were working!
The one other thing I will describe from our day is that Teena had a bunch of stuff on Craig’s List that she was getting rid of- some furniture, strollers (free) and cardboard packing boxes that she didn’t need. Her phone was ringing and pinging.
One woman said she wanted the boxes and was coming by that morning. She arrived in her mini-van, had a couple of small children in the back of the vehicle. We loaded the cardboard and I asked her if she was moving. No.
She said this would sound strange, but she has an internet business where she ships car headlights all over the country.
Not the answer either of us expected!!!
That’s all I’m going to share about the packing, because, well, you all would rather hear about Disney!
We left a little before 2 for a well-deserved and much anticipated night of play. And to meet up with a friend!
Next Up: What time is the 3:00 parade?
