"We ride some rides, eat some food and have some laughs" - JanetMom
Since it has been so long since my last update- sorry about that folks!- here is a recap:
I arrived in Florida late Thursday night, Jan 7 and Teena picked me up at the airport.
We spent Friday morning cleaning, organizing and packing and then we headed off for some fun at MK around 2 pm.
We watched the Festival of Fantasy parade. Following a visit to the Hall of Presidents, we met up with our friend Janet.
These were our Fast Pass reservations for the evening:
Haunted Mansion ... 4:20-5:20
Peter Pan ... 5:30-6:30
Pirates .. 6:30-7:30
After exchanging hugs, we went into HM and boarded our doom buggies. Teena and Janet rode together so I could sit alone and take pictures if I so desired.
I am so envious of my friends that manage to take excellent pictures in here. The combination of the dark lighting and movement of the cars make it really difficult.
I used my point and shoot and although the pictures would not win any awards, they are probably the best I have taken in there.
Crappy picture but this scene with the ghost blowing out the candle is special to me. Our class trip went behind the scenes at this exact spot .
When we exited the attraction we saw a Photopass photographer taking pictures in front of the haunted carriage, but there was a little line and my friends did not want to stop for a picture.
Boo!
We had some time before our next Fast Pass, and we didn’t have much to eat that day, so it was dinnertime! I told Teena that there was an entrée I wanted to try at Columbia Harbor House, seafood macaroni and cheese. According to what I have read, it is only available for dinner. Teena had never heard of it and when we tried to find it on menus online, we couldn’t find it. But fortunately, it was listed on the menu when we got to the restaurant.
Oh-EM-Gee, my entrée was awesome! I don’t really even like macaroni and cheese that much since I prefer lighter fare, so I rarely order it, but this was sooooo good!
We had a nice leisurely dinner with lots of girl talk. We talked a lot about our families and I learned a lot about Bob and Jeanne that I didn’t know. I was aware that Bob had worked at the Contemporary Resort as a greeter, but I didn’t know that both he and Jeanne had worked at Typhoon Lagoon.
We lingered at the table until it was time for our Fast Pass for Peter Pan.
We all rode together.
I only took two photos, a selfie of the three of us that is for some reason, green and a picture of the golden ship at the end. I don’t have access to these photos at the moment and they are not really worth uploading anyway.
We had some time before our next Fast Pass (Pirates), so I convinced Teena and Janet that we ride my favorite Disney attraction- Big Thunder Mountain.
Neither of them had been in the new interactive queue and Teena had not been on the ride in a long time because she didn’t know if it would be a good ride for Lily. This would be a good chance to preview the ride so they could decide whether Lily would like it or not. (Verdict- Teena thought she would love it, and that proved to be true on a recent visit to
Disneyland)
Teena and Janet (and I) had fun playing while waiting in line. My favorite thing is the canary in the coal mine.
Ready for the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness!
We followed up this ride with another favorite- Pirates!
What is the best way to follow up on that? (Hint: Read Teena’s shirt)
We walked over to the new stand hidden behind the spitting camels and ordered up 3 Dole Whips.
We sat at a table and we all enjoyed our snacks, as well as some more girl talk. It was a wonderful evening of getting to know one another better. But alas, it was getting late and Janet needed to get back to her family.
Teena and I decided to stick around the Kingdom a little longer and end our evening with a bang!
