This restaurant is a must do on our trips. We knew in advance of the ketchup issue. My kids, however, did not! Our first trip there my daughter was about 12 or so. She eats an entire ketchup bottle on everything! Thus, my husband asked for the ketchup. The place was very busy and the server yelled loudly "You want what? This is a BBQ house." She was mortified though we couldn't stop laughing. Later in the meal, someone else clear across the restaurant asked for ketchup. The waitress quickly yelled to my daughter "Aren't you going to share that ketchup?" They wanted her to get up and bring it over but she wasn't having it. She laughed but she was embarrassed.
We've also been there when they've done the hokey pokey. I was there with my two teenagers (15/19). Needless to say, they weren't going to participate. After it was over, the waitress quickly headed to our table and pronounced "Here are the hokey pokey party poopers!" We laughed hysterically and we were razzed by the other guests.
Be careful if it's a specific ocassion like a Birthday. I've seen this go smoothly and I've seen it backfire on the person who mentions it! Don't want to give away all the fun!!!
Your kids will love it here. Yes, there might be some slight embarrassment but it's all done in fun and it's easily laughed off.
