Thanks!

If you ask for keptchup you get brought like ten bottles of it. We ate there in July and I went in expecting a good, fun time. However, we went at a busy time - about 6 pm - and were seated outside the main dining room where all the action takes place. Our waiter was still fun, bringing 20 straws for the 4 of us and bringing a huge glass when my friend ordered a large Coke but there was more fun in the main room. I would defintely go back even with our less than perfect experience just for the food alone. Everything was excellent. I highly reccomend it.

Our family enoys Whispering Canyona nd will be going back this trip. The ketchup part is funny and the kids really get into it - bringing their bottles over to the table that requested it. There are also some other funny things your server MAY do (0ne time we went they didn't - and the next time they did) but it is not obnoxious.

We also like the food - DH & I always get the meatloaf.

To more specifically answer your question, WS is a family restaurant that specializes in rowdy fun. The servers will sit down at your table and chat with you; they'll also stand up and yell to the rest of the diners and staff about what you ordered or if you don't finish your meal. There are stick horse races for little kids, and when we were there, all the dads stood up, formed a circle, and then did a song and dance routine about buttercups. When one table with an especially energetic server attempted to pay with a credit card, the server came back from the cashier loudly proclaiming, "Mr. X, this credit card has been reported stolen!! I need you to come with me right now!" I don't want to give away too much, but suffice to say the servers often take great liberties with straws, catsup, and other items they provide. It's all in good fun with a high sense of humor. If you're easily embarrassed, I wouldn't go. But, if you and your family would enjoy an hour or so of high jinks and acceptable food (IMO the food is only fair to middling), I highly recommend it. And that's the word from this retired Air Force man. :)

The ketchup thing is when you ask for ketchup they shout "ketchup!" and anyone that has ketchup is supposed to run and put it on the requesting table. Now our daughter didn't seem to like this at all (she was 4) so the server brought her a bottle of ketchup wrapped up in aluminum foil so no one would know that she had it--very clever we thought. It was a fun evening and I think the servers kinda gauge how much a table can take.

This restaurant is a must do on our trips. We knew in advance of the ketchup issue. My kids, however, did not! Our first trip there my daughter was about 12 or so. She eats an entire ketchup bottle on everything! Thus, my husband asked for the ketchup. The place was very busy and the server yelled loudly "You want what? This is a BBQ house." She was mortified though we couldn't stop laughing. Later in the meal, someone else clear across the restaurant asked for ketchup. The waitress quickly yelled to my daughter "Aren't you going to share that ketchup?" They wanted her to get up and bring it over but she wasn't having it. She laughed but she was embarrassed.

We've also been there when they've done the hokey pokey. I was there with my two teenagers (15/19). Needless to say, they weren't going to participate. After it was over, the waitress quickly headed to our table and pronounced "Here are the hokey pokey party poopers!" We laughed hysterically and we were razzed by the other guests.

Be careful if it's a specific ocassion like a Birthday. I've seen this go smoothly and I've seen it backfire on the person who mentions it! Don't want to give away all the fun!!!

Your kids will love it here. Yes, there might be some slight embarrassment but it's all done in fun and it's easily laughed off.

We have a ps for WC for the morning of dd's birthday before we head to MK. Should I tell them it's her birthday?

I think we'll have fun then. I got a ps for X-mas day at 12:10 for lunch, my kids are 7, 9, and 11. So everyone thinks they are a good age for the fun?

Thanks for the help!

Robyn:)

Kristin's Mom--I would mention it but be careful. It's been known to backfire on the person who told. I've seen it go both ways. For example, the last time we were there this table of about 6 adults was sitting next to us. Someone mentioned it was her older sister's B-day. Well, instead of doing anything to the older sister, they made the younger sister prance around of the wooden horse around the entire restaurant while singing Happy Birthday to her big sis. It was hilarious! Just forewarning you.

airforcewife--your kids will definitely appreciate the restaurant. They are a great age. Have lots of fun!
