We had never been here before & with what I had read I figured my DH & kids would LOVE it. Well, they DID!!

Our server was J.J. aka Maverick...we were in the first seating at 5 pm which was great. Otherwise while waiting my kids would have seen the antics that go on!

My DS (9 yrs) had his birthday button on...more on that later...

J.J. fooled around with us...the jokes were flying around the room with the waiters...one being a joke about cows that was VERY special to us as my kids had used it in a skit one time...I stood up & YELLED the answer out!! I was so funny as they had not expected anyone to answer!! J.J. yelled at me to "get back to my nachos!". We kept exchanging cow jokes after that.

J.J. had the 5 kids STAND on their chairs to YELL "we need ketchup" all 18 bottles of it came on over. The kids quickly caught onto the "routine" & played along. The younger 4 kid all were in the "horse race", my 6 yr old DD is still talking about it!!

We had the pork chops which were to die for!! Onto dessert...and the birthday boy...they tell my DS to stand on his chair so everyone can see him & sing to him. They have a small peice of cake...the song begins & about 1/2 way thru 2 of the waiters grab the cake & run away with it eating it!!! The expression on my son's face was pure amazement. It took a few tiems of telling him it was just a joke for him to really "get it"...I think at first he thought he did something wrong.

Great place for LOTS of fun! My kids and even my DH enjoyed it MORE than 50's prime time! And we had a great waiter there too!! My kids have taken a vote to stay at WL next time just to return to Whispering Canyon Cafe!!

Thank you so much for your review. Our family will be going here in January and we will be celebrating two birthdays. They just thin k we are going to an ordinary restaurant. Won't they be surprised!!! ;)

My children also enjoyed WCC. DS and DD still yell "ketchup" sometimes when they want it.

what is on the buffet? how is it? also, what's the cost for an adult? thanks!

PoohLover,

We are going to be eating there the evening we arrive at Disney...which happens to be my wife's birthday. I thought the kids would love to make sure she got some attention. You mentioned this "Birthday Button"....where did you get that? Is that a Disney item?

I was planning to just tell them it was her birthday when we got there. Any suggestions or advice?

So glad to hear good things about WCC. We are staying at WL and decided to get PS for our resort touring night. Thanks for the review!!

The birthday button is actually a pin...I know you can get it at City HAll on Main Street in MK. They do have them at other parks too...a CM once saw my DS's pin from MK & gave him one from AK . This time when we left Epcot one of the CM's at the exit said to be sure to get a pin from Epcot also. But I'm not sure where to get it there.

The pins are free, I just walked into City Hall & asked for one for my son. No problem. My son had fun with it as the CM's would wish him a Happy Birthday!

Costs of the dinners at Whispering Canyon...I had the pork chops which were WONDERFUL...the waiter had said they were the best thing on the menu...2 pork chops, potatoes, mushrooms & some green beans was $17.99...I cleaned my plate they were sooooo good.

My DH got the famous canyon all-you-can-eat-skillet...you can order this for as many people as you want at $21.99 per person. It comes pre plated but you can get more of naything you want! It has salad & corn bread to start, smoked pork ribs, pulled pork, roasted chicken, pork sausage, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, beans & corn on the cob. While my DH thought it was good, I had him try my plate & he thought the chops were better!

The chocolate desserts are to DIE for!! All we had were delicious!

And my kids just last night yelled for the ketchup. We ran out (oH NO!!) and they said "I wish we could just stand on our chairs & yell for it & have it come like in Whispering Canyon" I think we have found a new favorite & one that we be a repeat each time we go!

We just got back and had lunch @ WCC. It was hilarious people yelling for ketchup, horse races and all the antics. They actually made all the men in the room come up and sing "I'm a little teacup". Great laughs, we will be taking the kids there on spring break and not tell them what goes on.

Thanks for the review. It sounds like you had a really great time! I'm so glad to hear that. We've yet to eat at Whispering Canyon (didn't even go during a recent stay at WL), but think we will try it next month when we stay at VWL.

THANKS!

Hello poohlover and everyone else .... thanks so much for the review and all of the other helpful hints. We'll be taking our 4-year-old grandson in May.

Cheers, My Grandpa

We will be going to WCC on our next trip and I can't wait!! I have not told anyone else. . . .and the DH wonders why I spend so much time here :rotfl:

:rotfl: OOOOOO! now I really want to go! But I don't know how I'm gonna make time! Guess I might have to drop a ps to make room! It sounds like so much fun! and I know the kids (sis 8, nephew 5, even me 26!) would love it!

Glad you enjoyed your experience. I cant wait to take my DD and 2 nieces this summer.

We had dinner here in December and it was soooo good. The food for the dinner buffet included, pulled pork BBQ, Beef BBQ ribbs, roasted chicken, mashed potato's, baked beans, salad, and corn bread. All the food was excellent, the kids ate like crazy! We had a rather subdued waiter, which was fine by us. We were tired and hungry and just happy with watching everyone else get humilliated! The kids did enjoy a stick pony ride around the restaurant and their certificate for being an honorary cowboy/cowgirl. All in all, it was great fun.
Just a note, my dd left her fannypack there and we searched and searched for it calling all the parks etc... When we arrived home it was waiting on our doorstep via UPS with a note from the waiter. All her disney dollars and pressed pennies were tucked away exactly as she left them. We were so grateful.

I'm so glad you had such a great time! WC is one of our new favorites, too. DD enjoyed herself so much that she wanted me to cancel all our other PS's and only eat there. She's 14 and I'm never sure if she's going to go with something or be mortified but she had a blast. She didn't even ask for ketchup (or have anything to put it on) but they brought us about 20 bottles all the same.

One of the waiters showed the two of us a card trick. She was amazed but he dropped a card and I knew he'd palmed it. When he was about 4 tables away, I told her how he'd done it. I still don't know how the heck he heard me but he started yelling at me--"Trick ruiner! You're not David Blaine!" And he called me trick ruiner all evening. It was so much fun and the food was great.

WCC is our favorite family restuarant. We go at least once every trip and only get Bobby Joe aka Bobby the Kid as our waiter...

Here is us and Bobby in July 2004

DH and I ate at WCC on our honeymoon. Not the most romantic restaurant at WDW, but our food was delicious and we enjoyed watching the antics as we ate.

This has solidified my decision to do WCC instead of HDD and not feel bad about it. :)

To the OP, they did bring your child another dessert right?? We will be celebrating my twin's b-day, so I just want to make sure. lol

Oh, I wish I'd ordered the pork chops!!! We ate there last Tuesday and had a marvelous time. My 4-year-old brought home his "indian head dress". i.e., a napkin and some straws and has been running around pretending he was still there.

The food though - so so. We weren't too hungry and only got appetizers along with a kid's mac and cheese. Now I know to try the pork chops when we return ... and we definitely will, we loved WL!

We love the WCC....we'll be eating there tomorrow at 12noon!
All you can eat skillet!!!! YUM!!! :)
