Has anyone had dinner at the WCC? and what kind of feedback can you give me on the food, service, etc.?

I was thinking about this restaurant for Thanksgiving Dinner? any other recommendations?

I am on the waiting list for OKW for thanksgiving night? From experience, does anyone think I have a good chance OR a slim chance of getting a room before August 31? or should I transfer my vacation points to reservation points and just get a room?

I am in a similar situation as you! All our waitlisted days have come through for OKW but Thanksgiving day itself. I am getting pretty nervous playing this waiting game. Right now airfare from Cleveland is at a pretty good price and I was thinking about sneaking off for a long weekend with hubby and getting my Disney fix that way. Plenty of studios are available for the days I want in October but I am not a fan of flying - oh well - we'll see if I can resist this extra trip.

Anyway, I hope the waitlist comes through for you! I just wish they could tell you where you are on the waitlist so you would know if you were #1 or #1,001!!!!

We ate there in March and are eating there again in 2 weeks. The decor is like the lodge - lots of wood, etc. The food is alot of BBQ style - cooked over an open fire - decent selection of chicken, steaks, porkchops, seafood, plus a pasta dish or two. The waitstaff is goofy - yelling out silly things, embarrasing the kids, etc. (similar to Prime Time Cafe if you have ever eaten there). For example, if you ask for ketchup, they yell out to the whole restaurant - OH - she wants ketchup! Can everyone who has ketchup bring it to her - and you end up with 20 bottles of ketchup on your table.

We love it - but the horsing around atmosphere doesn't appeal to everyone so just know what you are getting into!

Alot of people like Liberty Tree Tavern for Thanksgiving - so it is pretty popular at that time.

hope your wait list comes through - but before August I don't know before November I would think so - but August???? You can make reservations at WDW hotel anytime so I would definitely wait - unless of course you have a lots of points that you just have to use -

We ate dinner at Whispering Canyon Monday night. We didn't get the skillet (the kids wouldn't eat enough and it was late) so DH got the chicken and I got the ribs. Very good. I also had a $8.25 pina colada with wine swirled in it. Two kids had chicken fingers and DS had PB&J. Whole thing was $80 plus tip.
Also the kids did the pony express races and I saw one CM happily embarrass a couple of teenagers at adjoining tables.

lol....I can confirm this as well. Also, don't ask for a Pepsi (big no-no) as Disney only serves Coke. You'll pay dearly for that. It's a fun, relaxed atmoshere at the Whispering Canyon.

I would still give the waitlist a bit more time. People's plans change all of the time.

As far as the WCC goes, my dinner mate asked for a refill of the baked beans. BIG MISTAKE! I won't spoil the surprise of what follows, but it was very funny.:p :p :p

DW and I had Christmas breakfast at WCC a couple of years ago. Previous posts about the fun and friendly staff are absolutely correct.

Anyway, a really funny thing happened. Our waiter filled up my DW's coffee cup- and the Disney magic appeared! There, in her cup, 3 bubbles formed a PERFECT hidden Mickey (I swear I'm not making this up). We laughed loud enough to bring the waiter back- who wondered why the heck we were staring into a coffee cup! He said it had never happened before, and probably would never happen again.

I hope you have a happy holiday memory there as well.
