I'm making my ADR's in a week, and have a rough draft that I've been working under. The problem is that my husband would like to eliminate a couple meals, and eat back at the hotel since we'll have a full kitchen in Kidani Village. (Makes sense to me, but I have my heart set on all of them, :rotfl2:) What would you get rid of? Keep in mind that some of them are for the kids, and are there for the "fun" aspect, and not fine dining.

Anyway...

Ohana Character Breakfast
Coral Reef Dinner
Chef Mickey's Character Dinner
Kona Breakfast
Sci-Fi Lunch
Boma Breakfast
Whispering Canyon Cafe Dinner
Crystal Palace Breakfast
Yak & Yeti Lunch
T-Rex Dinner
Le Cellier Dinner
Brown Derby Dinner

We obviously already have some hotel meals and CS meals build in. Thanks for any advice!! :worship:

The first one I'd give up is Coral Reef. IMHO it has declined in the number of entree choices, as well as quality and quantity of food. If you selected that restaurant for the view of the aquarium, you can see the same thing in the observation room.

I'd drop Brown Derby. I haven't eaten there, but it does not seem like it should be a two credit restaurant when compared to other 2TS places.

For the sake of needing a break from character breakfasts(rest is a good thing;))I would eliminate one of those. Sci-Fi IMO is subpar on the level of most WDW restaurants, nothing great. Atmosphere is wonderful, but after watching the same ol loop over and over of Sci-Fi movies, the cool factor wears thin.

Agree with Coral Reef...food was okay, but nothing great. I did however really enjoy sitting by the aquarium ....my 7 yr DS loved it. Brown Derby was really good and you can book the Fantasmic Package with it!! A big plus!! Food was great!! Again, my DS loved the Sci-Fi, but food was just burgers and milkshakes. We won't be doing that one again.

I'd get rid of Kona breakfast so the morning would be more relaxed by eating in the room, plus you are already going to Ohana for breakfast. As for the other meals... I agree with maybe not doing Coral Reef based on reviews and the fact that you can see the aquarium elsewhere. Good luck!!!

I would eliminate the Kona breakfast. Eating breakfast in the Villa is so quick and easy, I wouldn't go out of my way for a regular restaurant breakfast. I would also eliminate Brown Derby. I think it is overpriced,
Have a Good Trip

I'd drop some of the breakfasts. We do 2 character breakfasts, max, because the kids would rather be hitting the parks than eating that many TS breakfasts. I'd also drop Sci-Fi. We ate there once and it was terrible.

I would nix Chef Mickeys dinner because the food was blech..

Chef Mickey's Character Dinner for sure, Brown Derby~

Kona for breakfast is a must, well for my family. Great breakfast, Poly experience not to mention the some of the best coffee in the Disney World.

chef mickey's dinner and brown derby ,brown derby was not worth the 2 ts.

I'd get rid of Chef Mickey's, Sci-Fi, Whispering Canyon Cafe and T-Rex.

Thanks for all the input so far!!

We actually ate at Brown Derby three years ago (one of the only ones on the list that we've tried) and the dinner was wonderful! Does anyone think that the food/service has gone downhill?

My goal at Disney is usually to choose places that have a unique atmosphere, something I can't get anywhere else.

With that in mind, the places on your list that don't have what I feel is a unique atmosphere would be: Kona Cafe, Boma, Yak and Yet, Brown Derby, and Le Cellier.

Boma is just too convenient for you to drop, and the food is good. I'd keep that one.

Kona Cafe for breakfast seems to be the least convenient choice on your list... I find breakfast at other resorts to be inconvenient in general, and you are already going to the Poly for breakfast once with 'Ohana. I'd definitely drop Kona.

Then if you need to drop one more I'd choose between Yak and Yeti, Brown Derby and Le Cellier. Brown Derby would be my choice to drop, but definitely one of the three.

I would give up Brown Derby, not really worth the cost.

I see several that I would take off my list. Look at them carefully, trim down the "character" meals to just a couple. Also the buffets to just a couple.

If you are looking for fun atmosphere, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Hoop De Do Review, the dinner show at Ft. Wilderness. Also fun and something for everyone is the Biergarten Epcot-Germany.

Wow! You have a great list there :).

I put your meals in my order or preference according to type: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Breakfast:
Crystal Palace Breakfast
Boma Breakfast
Ohana Character Breakfast
Kona Breakfast

I really love CP for breakfast. Choose the last breakfast seating and you can have "brunch" since they will bring out the lunch items as you are eating your breakfast plates. Boma also has a really nice breakfast. The food at 'Ohana is just so-so but I found the character interaction to be very good. Kona would get the cut for me if you were going to cut a breakfast. The tonga toast is good, but I have never been thrilled with the restaurant.

Lunch:
Sci-Fi Lunch
Yak & Yeti Lunch

Sci-Fi's food is sub-standard, but you cannot beat the atmosphere. Yak & Yeti was okay, but I would not go out of my way to eat there again. So, I would cut Yak & Yeti if you were going to cut a lunch.

Dinner:
Brown Derby Dinner
Coral Reef Dinner
Chef Mickey's Character Dinner
Whispering Canyon Cafe Dinner
T-Rex Dinner
Le Cellier Dinner

Brown Derby is one of the best restaurants at WDW. I adore the Cobb salad. The Coral Reef gets mixed reviews, but I have heard that they have a new chef. Chef Mickey's and Whispering Canyon are all about the fun. I would keep both of those. I have never eaten at T-Rex so I guess it would be between it and Le Cellier for me. I know that I am bucking the Le Cellier adoration trend but I never been wow'd by that restaurant in the 4-5 times I have eaten there. I keep on thinking that it will be better but it's not.

I would give up a character breakfast - easiest room meal plus takes up precious morning touring time.

BD - while a nice meal, it is on the pricey side

another skip would be CM - the food reports back lately have been very meh

nice variety of restaurants. Now when DH saus he would like to have a few more meals in the room, I assume he is cooking those meals? :lmao:

I would pass on Whispering Canyon Cafe.
The service was terrible
  • Entire orders not being served because he didn't think we'd like it (and this wasn't part of the "show"). We ordered the skillet and almost done and realized we had no cole slaw. When questioned, he said that he doesn't serve it because most people don't like it. Funny thing, I thought it was the best part of the skillet
  • Extremely slow service, not just us. The table next to us, he forget their son's meal. Everyone else was done eating before the son's meal arrived
  • Desserts incorrect. We ordered them to go, we were so ready to leave. We checked them before leaving and 2 of them were incorrect.

The food was not that great
  • DS hamburger hard as a rock
  • BBQ sub par - it was okay (we were able to eat it), but it wasn't great. But perhaps that is because we live in Texas where BBQ is top notch.

The only things we liked were the little stick pony rides for the kids and the desserts.I know a lot of people really like WCC, but we will not be returning.
