Question to all. What Restraunt turned out to be something totally different from what you imagined or told it would be? it could be either good or bad. I'll start; mine was with LeCellier Steakhouse. For many years we had gone to WDW and my wife wanted to try it, but I wouldn't do it , or made ADR;s at the other Countries. Perhaps it was my misconception of Steakhouse being on the name. Whan I'm on vacation I don't want eat at a steakhouse, I was thinking it would be like a Rustler/Hoss's/Pondarosa's and that type of atmosphere. The other problem with me was that it kind of seem tucked away. what I mean is At the other countries the restaraunts seem to be in the middle of everything, where you can get at least a sneak peak at the atmosphere.Well 2 years ago I finally gave in and gave it a try.boy i could have kicked myself for what I was missing! The food was way better then I expected, The service was outstanding, and the atmoshpere was great , becuase I expected a loud steakhouse, and it was a quiet and charming.it is now at the top of our must do list now1 lets hear your thoughts and stories!? :smooth:

DH never wanted to try BOMA because we aren't big buffet fans, and he thought it would be all "weird, healthfood". It is now one of his favorites.

I hope this falls into the guidelines of your post, but I heard that it was a good place...but IT WAS PHENOMENAL!! The lamb appetizer followed by the olive and tomato flatbread were worth it alone to eat there! The sangria invites you to sit a spell and let your vacation soak in. Great atmosphere, great wait staff and our only must-do every time we go. :cool1:

We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the Rainforest Cafe. (was expecting it to be kind of "carnival like") We were very disappointed in the Coral Reef thinking it would be one of our highlights. 'Ohana was our favorite and we didn't even plan on going there!

BOMA. I had read alot about it on the boards here and we'll try anything once. DH...who is the adventurous eater..actually is the one who didn't want to go, but I convinced him. We went for dinner and we all loved it! Even my then 25 month old DD loved it. So we are going back again this trip!

It was more than I thought it would be :woohoo: . Atmosphere was more romantic, loved seeing the fireworks through the stained glass windows. Food was really good. Now that was dinner in December, Dont no after the changes.

I was ready for a healthy meal in WDW (fairly hard to find BTW) and was going to be happy with whatever mediocre Japanese Hibachi cooking I could get. Boy was I wrong! Teppanyaki turned out to be one of my absolute favorite restaurnts period. Atmosphere wonderful, chef, amazing and food delicious!!!

Whispering Canyon. Our first trip, I thought it was going to be quiet and romantic. Dunno if I mixed it up with Artist Point or what. We loved it, but were WAY surprised.

San Angel Inn. Had read so much negative stuff, and it was fantastic!

Most pleasant surprise: fantastic lunch at Coral Reef

Biggest disappointment: Boma

Restaurant that lived up to all the hype: Jiko

The Plaza in MK. I had read some bad reviews, but we stopped for lunch. The food is really good. Great shakes and burgers. We go every trip now.

I was suprised by how much we all liked Ohana. When I had our ADRs made it was right around the time they were doing the menu switch so I was unsure. Im glad we kept the ADR though because we loved Ohana. It was definately our fave place.

We were disappointed in BOMA though. Not that it was bad. But the hype just didn't live up to the reality. IMO We would consider going back to give it another chance though.

I was most surprised by California Grill... In my mind I pictured it really quiet and intimate and the reality was that it was hopping, busy, loud, great food etc..

I would say Chefs de France. I thought it would be stuffy and the food would be drenched in sauces. But, we were extremely surprised at all of the delicious food, all very well prepared and presented beautifully! The service was top notch! It was not a one-hit-wonder, we will be going again in Dec.

Our nicest surprise had to be the food at the Luau. We had very low expectations from comments on this board, & found it to be one of the best meals of our trip!

Tea at the Grand Floridian :thumbsup2 I always wanted to do this and last trip DH finally gave in. We both loved it and were surprised that we were so full when we left. I am normally not a sandwich person, but I loved everything. It wasn't the hoity-toity place DH thought it would be.

Now Trails End is another matter  I had heard great things about it and it just was not good. Not good at all. I will never go back ,except to pick up a pizza

Dinner @ CRT.
We booked a ps since we would be in the park for MVMCP and thought my birthday dinner in the castle would be a nice treat. I almost reschedule because of the mixed reviews on various sites.

It turned out to be one of the best meals of our last trip, service was exceptional. The food was excellent.

So glad I had the opportunity to dine there before they make the change in a few days.

Boma- To me it didn't live up to all the hype. Maybe I am just simple person but we just weren't that impressed. I am glad I tried it though.

Our biggest disappointment was Crystal Palace. Food was just ok and middle son got food poisoning there and was a wreck for two days.

Biggest surprise was Tangerine Cafe at Morocco. We'd eaten at Marakesh before and really enjoyed it, but for CS, Tangerine Cafe can't be beat.

After reading some posts on the food and service, I was a little worried about this ADR. Our food was outstanding and our waiter was one of the best we had during the whole trip. It really was a great meal.
