Which Way Is Splish Splash Mountian? UPDATE 11-3 July AKV TR

THANK YOU so much for putting in an index in your 1st post. Sometimes I don't have the time to read all the great responses.

Great Report!!!

I think its so much easier for people to read that way, I love it when TR have an index!

:lmao: They've actually heard all about MK's backstage areas, since I used to work there :) Sometimes they just forget how big WDW really is. I tried explaining it to my sister (who's never been) and she was shocked and amused :lmao:

We're actually planning a family reunion in about two years, so maybe I'll suggest we all do one of the tours, but I don't think they'll want to. :confused3

We are also trying to plan a trip in the next 2 years. A family reunion that's big though, I've done a trip with 18 people before so if you need any advice let me know!

So then why did they go with you to dinner? And more importantly, why did he order something? That is the stupidest thing I've heard in a long time!

OH, btw, if you are reading my TR, we did the Behind the Seeds Tour on our trip and it's coming up NEXT! :thumbsup2

The whole situation was quite stupid yes! i think they went with us because they were also on the dining plan and wanted to use it but it was so ridiculous.

And I am reading your TR, can't wait to read about it (and show boyfriend!)

the brother sounds like a complete tool, sorry you had to deal with that. I think it's because people who don't read sites like this just don't get what it's all about. At least you know for next time that going with other people who don't share the Disney passion is a waste of your time and energy.

look forward to more :thumbsup2

You know the sad part is, he really likes Disney, he just has some personality shortcomings. Major ones. They have been going to Disney for years, and he wasn't nearly this bad last year...I know one reason for his bad attitude this trip but i don't think its appropriate to talk about on a technically family friendly forum.

Yeah but I think it's more than that. It's not just that he doesn't share the Disney passion, he's just being a jerk. There are a lot of things that I don't understand why people are into but to each his own! Who is he to judge you for the things you like to do? He sounds like an immature, insecure, judgmental pain in the A! What reason does he have to knock your food picture taking other than to make you feel bad? That's just mean and I don't like when people are mean!

He was being very mean and trust me I did not appreciate it. I wanted to cry and scream at the same time. i don't think people should judge other people for stuff they like. And the worst part was, it's all jealousy. He doesn't like technology because he doesnt have any. He doesn't have a computer so the internet = stupid

WOW, I'm caught up on your trip report and, while I mean no disrespect, your traveling partners seem like a BIG PITA!! (sorry, I'm brutally honest, and it get's me into trouble).....You and your BF seem to be the SANE one's of the group!!

I can understand now how you said they got on your nerves.....you are a SAINT to have put up with them :worship::worship::worship:

Can't wait to read more......

Don't worry, no disrespect at all, They were all huge PITA. Boyfriend and I were the only sane ones, thank god he's normal!

Thanks for reading!

Preach it LADY! ::yes:: You said it right! UGH! I'm so sorry you had to deal with him! How very, very, very immature.

But how incredible of your DBF to stick up for you! He's a KEEPER! :thumbsup2

Love the food pics...yummy! All your DIS friends thank you!

I'm so glad you got to a park and got a few things in too...despite the smoke breaks.

I highly doubt it'll be 18 people. I think the most we'll have will be 10, to be honest. My dad decided not to invite his side of the family, and I doubt my mom's sister and her husband and their kids will want to come. So that leaves my mom, dad, brother, sister, brother's girlfriend, sister's boyfriend, sister and boyfriend's daughter, me, uncle, and possibly Grandma. We'll have at least 8, though.

But thanks, I'll keep that in mind :teeth:

I went with a group of 16 once (all family) and the ONLY time we were all together was when we took a group picture in our matching shirts in front of the MK! Seriously! The second that picture was done, we all went our separate ways! It's just too hard to keep that many people together and have everyone happy. For everyone's sanity...it's best just to split up! Find the people who want to do the same things as you and GO!

Thank you! I see nothing wrong with taking pictures of my food. Apparently this family does. Even his mother gave me crap about it this trip! For god sakes people! And they wondered why we wanted to have alone time!

And yes he is a keeper, I told him i expect a ring in the next two years because I'm not getting any younger! :rotfl:

We have ten this trip and it was worse than when we had 18! I think the major difference was, everyone wanted to stay together, whereas the last time we took a trip with them everyone went off and did their own thing and then met up for certian things which worked out much better!

Best advice ever! When we went with the group of 18, DBF and I hung out with Jameson and Jess most of the time (they so were not bad that trip!) and then would meet up with the rest of the family later on after we had done everything! It worked so well! Hence why I thought this trip would work so well! Thankfully we do have some really awesome moments coming up!

Found you TR this morning, following along! Sounds like you got your hands full with everyone...can't wait to see how this all works out:rolleyes1

Just finished reading and happy to join in... You really are a saint! I don't think I could vacation with my in-laws, I might have to go to jail after that! When we go to Disney my mom and nephews come with us and luckily my hubby loves them. The boys are like our own since my sister died in a car accident so we don't go on vacation without them.

Welcome! And i swear they weren't this bad last year! I didn't think this vacation would be so awful!

I can't believe how you've been able to remain so calm even while you were seething....you must have a lot of patience.

Hopefully you and your bf will be able to take a trip just the two of you to WDW sometime to make up for it

Just wanted to say I'm in -- we were there during the same dates and I can't wait to read this all soon. I just wanted to bookmark your TR to read later!:goodvibes

Well, everyone's aware that I don't mind if they do their own thing. I'm sure my uncle won't want to hang around a 6 year old all week, for example. If they want to hang out together, that's fine, too, just don't expect me to play tour guide :lmao: The only things I want everyone to be there for are two dinners, a picture in front of the castle, and a surprise at Epcot. Hopefully it'll work out.

Yeah, that's what I'm planning on telling everyone. If they want to go off and do their own thing, that's fine by me. I know my sister and her boyfriend and their daughter will want to be with someone, which is fine, since they've never been, and my family's too cheap to do one of the Tour Guide Mike type services. So, yeah, we'll figure it out :) It's two years away

You know I've never thought of myself as having a lot of patience, but I have A LOT of people tell me that so i gues it must be true. It must be all those years of working in retail!

We are actually hopefully planning a trip for 2012. Money is a big factor though so we will see what happens!

Thanks for reading!

Sounds like you'll be just fine! And its never too early to start planning haha!

Aaand we're back! Sorry it took so long, I'm having surgery in a few weeks to remove some breast lumps and i've been running around getting bloodwork and such and its just been a pain! But it's time for another update!

When I last left off we had just finished our first day at Disney. The plan today was to go to Epcot and then Magic Kingdom for extra magic hours. How did we do? well keep reading to find out!

We had set the alarm for 8 I believe but I couldn't really sleep so I woke up around ten of. I told Boyfriend I was going down to get ice but I was actually lying. I had a surprise for him! Our anniversary is in June and last year we ended up celebrating it in Disney since we were going to be there just a month later. We celebrated with dinner in Canada and it was one of the best nights we've ever had. So we kind of planned the same thing this time and we were going to be having an early dinner at canada today. I thought it would be really cute if I could get a card sent up to the room. So I walked to the front desk (in my pjs!) and talked to the wonderful people there and they assured me that they would send something up! Satisfied with my mission I headed back to the room making sure to stop and get some ice on the way!

Of course boyfriend isn't stupid and he asked me where the heck I went. I suck at keeping secrets from him and i told him it was a surprise to which he said he wants to know so i ended up telling him! So my deception llasted all of about 30 seconds haha!

We got ready and I had some coffee out on the balcony. I had planned to make ice coffee but that didn't really work out for me so I just sipped some hot coffee instead. It was very nice and peaceful and I really enjoyed it!

We all met in his parents room and headed down to the buses to catch the bus to Epcot. So far no incidents! that's always nice! We get to Epcot with minimal fuss and its decided that we would head to Soarin to obtain fast passes and then head over to test track. For some reason we ALL went over to Soarin and the whole time i'm thinking 'why do we all have to go get the fast passes?' So instead of walking all the way up the hill and going with the mass of people i handed my ticket to boyfriend and sat down to call my dad and wish him a happy birthday!

Fast passes in hand we went over to do test track. I think the wait was only about 30 minutes but i think we only waited like 20. i took some pictures while we waited in line

Can you see the hidden Mickey's?

Test Track was awesome as usual, i love this ride! It will always be one of my favorites! After Test Track some of them wanted to do Mission:Space. I will not go on Mission:Space and I had a mission of my own. I need to find a pickle! Pickles are one of my favorite foods, and I love those Disney pickles. Pickle in hand I went and found Mr. and Mrs. N and Jess who also didn't ride the ride. I took some pictures while we waited.

Also while we were waiting I asked Mr. N if he got a birthday card for Melissa's birthday. He didn't know what I was talking about. So I then proceded to call Kidani for them and tell them we would be celebrating a birthday on Saturday and would it be at all possible to get a card sent up. They said sure no problem! Love Disney. I told them it was all taken care of and thought 'That was nice, maybe they will like me more"...boy was I wrong. Finally everyone was done on the ride and we were planning on riding The Seas and Soarin. This is where the day gets interesting but unfortunalty i have to stop here tonight since its 3 in the morning and I want to be in top form to write about the next part of the day!

COMING UP Sharks!, Drinking Around the World!, and Another Freakout!

How sweet that you thought of getting a card sent up to your boyfriend and a birthday card for his mom later on.

I still don't know how your remaining calm through all these freakouts, but luckily you at least got to ride test track before that happened

What :scared1: a cliffhanger?

Hey, I am 6 hours ahead here and you make me wait! ;) :rotfl2:

Loved the start to your second day! Hope it doesn't turn out to be a smoke break after smoke break day!
Sitting here, waiting for more! popcorn:: Reading trip reports right before you go on vacation yourself is the best. :thumbsup2

So far it sounds like a really great morning....but a freakout is coming...:scared:

I love Disney cards! We got one for our honeymoon and anniversary, and hopefully my little guy will get one for this birthday this coming trip-he'd just LOVE it. I guess if we don't I'll just call and ask! I never thought to do that! :thumbsup2

I think working with animals has earned me a lot of patience through out the years!

I know I am cruel, but an update is coming soon I promise! If I didn't have pesky work to go to I'd be done by now haha!

It woulnd't be a normal day with his family without a freakout! Yes they were very nice about me calling actually! When I went down to the front desk and asked they were a little like umm ok? And then i think they realized I knew that they did that and they were like oh yeah sure we'll send you something special! And when I called they were just super nice about it, acted like it was a completely normal request! it was great!

Oh no, I don't like the sounds of this........:scared1:

oh just wait haha

Anxiously waiting to hear more.... :rolleyes2

It's coming! I haven't forgotten!

I'm back! Don't abadon me! I've been having medical problems and my car died so I have no car for six month! Ugh, but I'm back with another update!

So when we last left off we had just done Test Track and were waiting for everyone to be done with Mission"Space. I can't promist the edition will be long cause I'm in pain and i want to lie down but I can at least do a quick update!

So we decided to go over to Soarin to use our fast passes. We hardly waited at all but we did have some choice conversations while standing inline that I just have to share with you folks! Just to refresh your memory, boyfriend and I do not live together. we still live with our parents and go to school. As some point a comment was made by Jameson to us on how it must be so nice not to have to live with real world and pay bills and what not. UM WHAT? I calmly explained I had plenty of bills and I'm very much in the real world and I had a ton of student loans to pay, to which he replied "Well that's your own fault for wasting your money on something as stupid as school"

I couldn't make it up if I tried. That's when I almost had my freakout for the day but luckily my boyfriend ran interferance and we were shooed into line for the ride. Soarin was good as always. And after we decided we would head over to see Nemo!

IMG_0495.jpg

Now, Jameson stopped to have a cigeratte and in true N Family fashion no one waited for him. (No one waited for you on this trip ever) So we all got on the ride and he had to wait and ride it himself. Jess was supposed to be my ride buddy for this one so I felt bad because Jameson was freaking out on her. But then my wonderful night in shining armor told me not to worry about it and he had found something that would really make me happy. He took me down the little aquarium tunnel up top and showed me the shark tank. He knows how much I love sharks! I think they are just so beauitful and I was so happy to see them! It made me feel better instantly and i just loved him for that moment! We ever found a hidden Mickey

IMG_0496.jpg

Everyone else was still mad at everyone but i had sharks and I was happy. Finally we left the Seas and decided to head over to the Wolrd Showcase for some lunch. And i know its wicked short but I must end here because i must sleep my headache away!

Coming soon: We keep getting left behind. Will I ever get my slushie? And we have a truly magical night at magic Kingdom
