Thinking of planning an Oct. '05 trip and I remember there was a lot of surprise about the crowd levels for a couple of weeks...but I can't recall which ones they were! I also know that, in general, crowds may have been bigger in Oct. from rescheduled hurricane-cancelled trip, but wonder which would be the best week in Oct. for low crowds.
Thanks!

October 2004 isnt' going to be a good benchmarking tool for crowds. Florida was coming off four major hurricanes that cancelled a LOT of trips and had people rescheduling and postponing. Many of those trips ended up being in October, which bumped attendance figures to higher-than-normal. You need to look at historic numbers a bit farther back to get a "normal" reading. (But don't use 2001, obviously, since those numbers will be skewed much lower, due to travel concerns after 9/11.)

we were there 10/21/04-10/28/04, and it was not bad. our longest non FP wait was about 30 min for TOT (thats out of all four major parks). sat night was very crowded at MK though.

We agree, the last week of the month leading up to Halloween seemed to be the lowest crowd-wise. The only parks that appeared to be crowded were the Magic Kingdom and Epcot on the weekends. An added bonus during this time of year is generally beautiful weather, and plenty of Halloween parties and other activities.

I also agree -went at this time of year this year- we are hoping to go a week earlier though next year - so we can use our AP's again! Could you please tell me which week (or weekend) is really busy? Is it called Columbus Day/Week - sorry I get really confused with the names and dates of US Bank Holidays.

We were there Oct. 6-9 and it wasn't bad. We would get there when the park opened (not an early open day) and rode everything without any wait for a least a couple of hours. Then the rest of the day was just a minimal wait. The only show we waited in line for was "Beauty and the Beast". We also saw "It's Tough to be a Bug", "Tarzan Rocks", "Muppet 3D" and "Country Bears" I think we saw another show too but can't remember which one but didn't have to wait. We walked right in all the shows. In most cases we sat in the first row and the theater wasn't full. A couple of shows they were only 1/4 or 1/2 full.

My husband and I went Oct. 15-17th and the crowds were horrible. I am glad that we came by ourselves and brought the kids in Sept.(week of Ivan). It was really slow then. I would say that when we went in Oct. it was just as busy as last year when we went Labor Day weekend. Makes me afraid to ever go again in Oct. though the weather is so much better than Sept. I don't know how much of the crowds was caused by the summer hurricanes or MNSSHP and Food and Wine Fest. at the same time. We were looking forward to being there for the F&W but the lines at all the booths were so long we only tried one thing. :(
