Which wall are the beds on?

Ok, sounds like such a strange question. I *know* someone around here knows the answer. When you are looking at the deck plans, there are 'bump outs' in the walls. They indicate which way the beds are facing.

So, if I walk into a room on the port side and the bump-out is facing down, what side will the beds be on?

What I can tell you about typical Cat 5/6 cabins is that the headboard is on the same wall as the the split bathroom.

For typical inside cabins, the headboard is on the far wall relative to the cabin door.

The wall with the "bump outs" has the steamer trunk. The straight wall has the headboard of the adult bed. So, your head will be near the straight wall, and your feet will point to the wall with the "bump outs."

After looking at a deck plan (such as Deck 6 ), I believe this is a better way to know where the bed is...

The cabin door is on the opposite side of the cabin from the headboard (again, unless we are talking about the bed being at the far side in an inside cabin). Cabin doors are located where the hall way looks like it widens.

So on Deck 6, cabin 6028 (the most forward Cat 6 cabin on the Port side) the hallway recess is on the Aft side of the room therefore the headboard is on the Forward side of the room.

Isn't easier to say that if you have an inside stateroom the bed head board is directly opposite of the cabin door? And if you have an outside stateroom the headboard is against a wall that is shared with another cabin? This definitely applies to rooms with verandahs, not so sure about rooms with portholes (their headboards might be across from the cabin door???)

YES ....I am in 6534 next cruise and my head will be toward the RIGHT....the opposite of yours....I know this may sound strange, but this way as I lay in bed or sit on the couch, I will be looking toward where we are going (forward), not where we have been (towards the aft of the ship)

GrayFal ... Yes! That is exactly it. I wanted to lay down with my head against the wall and be moving forward with the ship. If your bed is on the right as you walk into 6534, than my bed will be on the left in 6034.​

Actually we stayed in a category 10 last week & the headboard is against the same wall as the bathrooms are & the sofa & bunk bed. Though we missed the porthole a little bit, we did like the layout of the room better since we didn't have to walk around the bed to get to the sitting area. We also had a double steamer trunk which gave us more storage room than we had in the cat 8 last year.

We're saying the same thing, but apparently what I was saying is being missinterpreted.

I stated that the cabin door is on the side where the HALLWAY W-I-D-E-N-S. So if you look at cabin 6028 from the hallway, you will see that the hallway is wider on the left (aft) side of the cabin and this is the same side as the "bumps" on the connecting walls between cabins 6028 and 6030. So if you are trying to decide if you will be facing Aft or Forward while you sit up in bed reading a book, you will face aft in cabin 6028.

This is a great simplification, however there are some cabins without bumpy walls (such as some of the aft verandahs and some of the Port Hole rooms) where you have to fall back on decoding which side the cabin door is located.
