hiya well I have two trips booked to wdw next year (long story) however one needs to be cancelled so which one would you choice?

Trip one -- 2 weeks at end of August booked with Airtours, flying my travel to sanford (premiar gold seating) staying at AKL.

Trip 2 --10 Nights at AKL(with Savannah room) with Virgin Holidays in October cost about £2000 more than the Airtours booking. (includes PE and UC however thinking down grading from UC )

I am leaning toward October due to weather and Halloween parties however this will be our first visit so I am not sure, Any Advice.

I have never been in August before so can't comment on that.

But I will give a big :thumbsup2 for Halloween. It is a great time to go, You have the MNSSHP and also the Epcot Food and Wine Festival :)

If I had to drop one it would be the august one, just due to crowds and too hot weather! also the atmosphere around hallowe'en is fab so I'd definately do that one. (or I'd win the lottery and do both! :thumbsup2 )

Probably October: in addition to what KayleeUK has said, the parks would be quieter and it is likely not to be as amazingly hot.

On the downside, October is probably not quite as good for water parks (cooler) and some parks (Animal Kingdom) have shorter opening hours.

Should imagine that a Savannah room is lovely.

Still £2000 is quite a difference - if you downgrade from UC to PE, does that make the prices quite a bit closer (maybe a £700/£800 difference?)?

Drop August. It is incredibly hot and humid and for me flying into MCO wins every time.

October is probably the ideal month to go, as everyone knows 'cos I keep mentioning it  we are stuck with August, however from the middle of the month the crowds are much lighter - it's just the weather that makes it less inviting.

UC Return is costing £2025 and PE outbound is costing £935 so it is quite a difference.

I don't really think that my dd will cope with the heat in august to be honest and that means it won't be any fun for the rest of us to deal with a grumpy 5 y/o.

Quite a difference in price, to be honest we just do the parks in short doses in August , getting there early etc, going for longer just means we can relax a bit more too but I agree it is too hot , the only people who go in July/Aug. are generally one's who cannot go any other time.

ok, so if you did PE both ways, that would reduce the cost by almost £1100. So the price difference between the August and October trips would be about £900. That isn't bad, is it? I think that Virgin PE will be better than Premair Gold PLUS you will be getting a Savannah room... so sounds about right.

Agree about the heat in August and grumpy 5 y/o. When I was child I used to get grumpy in the heat, but then my parents had this (I realise STUPID now...) rule about me having "EITHER an ice cream OR a drink". You can bet what I always chose... Somehow, I can now equate some of my childhood grumpiness in hot climates to dehydration!!! Thankfully we know a lot more about hydration than we did 20/30 years ago...

I would go for the 14 day trip over the 10 day one, purely because you are getting that bit longer :)

My DD first went in August at aged 3 and she coped just fine with the weather. The crowds really are fine at the end of August too :)

If it was a 14 night holiday in October vs August I would choose October though :)

If I had to drop one it would be August. The weather is hot, hot, hot and the crowds are massive. Prior to fastpass we once waited 90 minutes in August to ride Splash Mountain.

Added advantage of travelling in October/November time is the Food and Wine Festival, HHN, MNSSHP and if the dates are early enough MVMCP. The weather is also cooler and the crowds are less. Only disadvantage is that the parks close earlier. Gives you time in the evening for shopping, mini golf, stroll around the Boardwalk. The resort restaurants are still open late, so you can still have a fantastic dinner.

We went at the end of August a couple of years ago :sunny:

Everyone coped with the heat, and we had a lovely time, but there were some pretty spectacular thunder storms that lasted, literally, all day and closed the water parks and coasters

I say go for October :thumbsup2
