Which state would you sell?

Nobody has mentioned Alaska?

Many of them don't want to be Americans anyway....;)

Not many to displace....

Might get us to jump start developing alternative energy.

Actually, I think whichever state (and regardless of party, we all know there will be one) that mucks up the election the most should be auctioned off.

Assuming we can find anyone dumb enough to buy it.

I would say Ca, It a huge state should be able to get a pretty penny per acre
But then all of our produce would be from a foreign country;) and wait, I'm in Nevada......we'd become the first line of defense:faint: oh gosh, I can see the pick ups with their gun racks all lined up in the North and the Limo's and the Elvis impersonators in the South :rotfl2:

What about Washington, maybe Canada would like them....... Or Mexico so they could vacation north instead of South;)

Yes, I would say Alaska, or maybe Texas.

California in a heartbeat.

No offense, Y2L. :lmao: ;)

Isn't California one of the states that actually pays more into the federal system than it recieves from it? If you are going to sell someplace to make money, sell a place that is a drain on the national resources not the place that helps.

Based on the "all knowing, ever accurate" Wikipedia, CA is responsible for 13%of the US GDP, and apart from the US is still one of the top 10 largest economies in the world. Not to mention how much of the nations food CA produces.

In fact the majority of blue states recieve less than $1 in federal money for every $1 they give the federal government. The majority of red states recieve more than $1 for every $1 dollar they pay into the federal government. So the obvious solution is to just get rid of some red states. ;)

I like that idea! No muss no fuss, no paperwork, way of hubby, son and I becoming Canadians! Yay!

Interesting thread b/c I'm currently reading "How the States Got Their Shapes". Dry reading, but interesting for someone with a lousy CA public school education (history: "blah blah blah CA, missions, Spanish names, blah blah blah Vietnam, have a great summer!" next year "blah blah blah, CA, missions, did you know Los Gatos means the cats?, blah blah, Vietnam, have a great summer!" wash rinse repeat until graduation and that is despite taking Honors History in 11th and 12th).

Since Hawaii was brought into the US for defense I doubt it would be sold for that.

But I am intrigued by the RI/Monte Carlo idea, though since seaports were mentioned it probably wouldn't happen.

Connecticut. This god forsaken state has no redeeming qualities. Horrible drivers, bad food, everything closes early, and it reeks like skunk all the time. Im so glad I only go to school here and live in NY! Although being only 20 miles across the water from a state owned by another country might be a tad scary, depending on who the buyer is.

Why not South and West Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona - to Mexico of course - half of their citizens already live there anyway...:rolleyes1 ;)

I wouldn't mind dumping Texas, perhaps give it back to Mexico? LOL (KIDDING!) Or at least wherever the Bushes are from!

So are we keeping Hawaii?? :)

It depends, if Hawaii is bought by UAE and renamed Dubaikiki.....does that mean that a certain candidate would be declared inelligible for Presidency because he was born ooutside the US?:hippie: ;)

LOL probably...it's just one big conspiracy theory away from happening!!!

I joked on another thread that some blogger somewhere is combing over statehood papers for Hawaii to find a loophole or error to prove Hawaii is not a state! LOL

Yeah right. California is something like the 8th largest economy on the planet. We'd become our own country and take over the other 49 states! :woohoo:

Hey now...this idea has some merit!!

I vote for New Jersey. Or Arkansas. Ever been to Arkansas?

No offense to anyone:thumbsup2

How about selling Flordia to the Disney corporation?

They could REALLY develop a city of the future.

Sell time shares to retirees.

create "adults only" parks

and then you wouldn't have to worry about chad.
