We have booked a standard view at the WL in Sept. I saw a post that said floors 4, 5, and 6 on the north side over the service area and the 4th floor lobby rooms over the front desk were the standard rooms. Are the 4th floor lobby rooms the better standard views or the ones over the service area? We had a wood's view room last time, but since we are not in the room that much we've opted to use that money elsewhere this time. We, of course, would happily take a free upgrade at check-in, but we are not counting on it. Should we request a specific standard room or just see what they give us?

We stayed in room 5039 in December. We had a view of roof tops and part of the bus stop/parking lot. We did not mind the view because we were hardly in our room just "hanging out" We did walk out and overlook the lobby (directly across Whispering Canyons) Since it was the holiday season, it was great to walk out of our room and see the awesome Christmas Tree. Our room was also near a staircase. I was worried we would hear a lot of noise from people using the staircase or noise from the lobby (or Whispering Canyon--they do get rowdy) But noise was not a problem what so ever. We also did not have any noise from busses or parking lot, etc.. For a standard view this room was fine for us (one queen and bunks) We we a short distance from the elevator and there were stairs right by our room.
We did not ask for a specific room. We did request nonsmoking and bunkbeds. We were happey with our room!

We had room 6052 and we had a view of MK fireworks, the Contemporary resort - which looked very neat at night, Space Mountain and could see the monorail coming and going from the Contemp. I would definitely recommend getting 6th floor because you are high enough above the service area that you don't notice it all that much. At first we were on 4th floor above service area and were looking directly onto a rooftop with a birdnest on it - it wasn't too pleasant so we moved to 6th floor and that was much nicer.
