My first thought was that Grayce was pronounced Gracey. I considered Jayne for a girl's name (we ended up having all boys), but had the same problem - people disagreed whether it would be read Jane or Janey. Is there the same problem with Layne?

I think you should ditch the hyphen, also. Ariel is unusual enough, without adding the hyphen.

Grace.

It is DD's middle name (Catherine Grace) because it was my Grandmother's name.

I wouldn't alter the spelling just for the sake of being "interesting". Your daughter will be her own fascinating and unique little self, just as all babies are, even without an unusual name.

I like the traditional spelling of Grace. My first name is spelled a different way because I was named after my great-grandmother and I had to spell it for everyone my whole life whenever it came up. On my high school diploma it was spelled wrong, and I was so ready to drop it when I got married. When we named our DD, we made sure it was in a way that was traditional so she didn't have to go through the same headache.

Ariel-Grace is a beautiful name.

I picked other simply because I like the name by itself.

Ariel Grace. No hyphens, both names spelled correctly.

Agreed. THe second way is "trendy", the traditional way is "classic".

I like it spelled Grace.

The only names I like spelled differently are Christine and Christina, I prefer the Ks and ys in there, which if you knew is really saying something! LOL
My niece is Kristina and I told my BIl and SIl they HAD to use a K. Love it.

Speaking of names, here is a website that totally cracks me up:

If you have a child with a "unique" name and are easily offended, skip it. ;)

Grace is one of my favorite names for girls. I would go with the traditional spelling.

I named my first daughter Grace, so I like the traditional spelling. I don't really care for a hyphenated first name, either. I can just imagine how sick she will be of all the questions people will inevitably ask her. But it is up to you, of course, so you can name her whatever you want. :goodvibes

I love the name Ariel, too. :thumbsup2

I love the name! I went with the original spelling, though. Otherwise, people will be misspelling it all the time.

Bring it on!!!!

I'm not a fan of unusual spellings for common names. I think if you are going to give her a classic name, you should use the classic spelling so people know how to pronounce it correctly.

In the castle picture in my sig, Grace is the one with her hands behind her back.

We know someone with an Arielle and they pronounce it 'are' instead of 'air'.

I thought you were going to name her Jaden Layne "previously"??? Did you scrap that idea all together?? Not that I don't like Ariel, but I really do like Jaden!!

My niece's name is Kyrstyne. Give up :confused3 ? It's pronounced Kirsten. No one ever spells or pronounces it correctly. She's 18 and is sick to death of having to correct people. She's not thanking her parents for their "creativity" with a perfectly simple name.
