Our daughter is going to be named Ariel-Grace or Ariel-Grayce.

Do you like Grace or Grayce? Should I keep it simple and original or put a little interesting "y" in there? Or do you have another spelling????

I like the correct way. It's always good to teach children proper spelling from the get go.:thumbsup2

My name is Wendi....see the i? Well, no one ever spells it right, I don't even correct people anymore, it just isn't that big a deal.

I like the simple way.

If the first name were Grace, I would go with the Grayce spelling. With Ariel-Grace, I'd go with the usual spelling.

Personally I like the traditional way. I think alternative spellings to things have gone a little overboard.

The name is very pretty, though!

Beautiful name but Grayce looks like it is pronounced Gray Cee

Humm Gray-Cee.....LOL! As in Master Gray-Cee! Haunted Mansion!!!! No I'm kidding....LOL!

I agree with the pps--I prefer the traditional spelling

I spelll my daughter's name with a "Y" instead of the traditional spelling of Christina, it's Crystina.
I love it, she's always loved it too.
But, I think with it being the middle name, I'd keep it simple.
I was trying to think of another way to spell Ariel, but nothing seemed right. It's a pretty name by itself.

I vote for the normal spelling. When we named our first daughter my dh insisted on "normal" spellings. He despises names that look like the parents tried too hard! He convinced me. When we were naming our younger dd (Drew), my sisters all kept coming up with different spellings, but I had to stick with the old fashioned one.

Ohhhhhh, I apologize......I am having a DUH moment.

Another vote for "Grace". Very pretty name, I like it. :thumbsup2

Will that be her whole first name? Will she have a middle name? I was just reading on another thread about a little girl who had a hyphenated first name but no middle name. She wanted a middle name because everyone asks her what her middle initial is. They are going to add one after the fact (and for some reason I think it's "Grace", LOL).

So ... I would recommend that you skip the hypenated name and spell her middle name "Grace". The other spelling sounds like "Gray-cee" to me too.

Southern, No nothing to be sorry for, I was laughing because I had never thought Gray-Cee and then when I read it in your post the first thing that came to mind was the Haunted Mansion. She would have a definate Disney name then, LOL!!!!!

Ariel could be spelled Arielle but I love the regular way, the Disney way!

Oh and she will have a middle name, Barbara after my mother.
She will be Ariel-Grace Barbara. Our son has a hyphenated name so I thought it would be perfect to give our daughter one too. Our son, however does not have a middle name and he's always thought it was cool to not have one but Ariel will.

My DD is GRACE...so you can guess which spelling I picked!

Oh No, you didn't offend me in the least I thought it was funny!!!!!

I'm going to have to make it unanimous and vote for the beautiful traditional spelling...Grace. Congratulations a llittle early!
