Which Show to Skip?

We'll be going on a 4-Night Disney Wonder cruise in July. Me? I'd love to see every single one of the shows the cruise has to offer. However, the rest of my family gets all fidgety and squirmy during long shows. Any advice as to which show is the best and (if I HAD to choose one not to see) which one of them to skip? I know there is Golden Mickeys, Disney Dreams and Hercules (I also heard there were some new enhancements to Dreams. Any info on that?).

I don't mean to be a bother, but I must ask one more question:
The Birnbaum 2007 Disney Cruise book says that a tour of backstage Walt Disney Theatre is provided on the Disney Magic. Any word as if it's on the Wonder as well?

I can not choose a show, they are all great. Could choose one or two on the Magic though. The behind the scene tour you asked about is only on the 7 day Magic cruises. They are on Sea days. The 7 day have a few things like that. Sorry.. :sad1:

On the four night you'll also have a opening show the first night, I would miss this one. But if you must pick one of the others, do not miss Dreams, it is wonderful and the new effects, etc are GREAT! I was teary eyed, great show!

I'm not sure I could choose either -- but keep in mind that the shows are not THAT long -- about 45 - 60 minutes.

On a four night cruise you would have an opening show, aka a musician, puppeteer, comedian, etc. It varies by cruise. This would take place on embarkation night.

I would not miss Disney Dreams, I saw it eight years ago and still remember it. I saw Hercules too, and while I liked it, I think I would skip that one if I "had" too. I've seen the Golden Mickey's on DVD but never actually live, but I really like that too.

I agree, if you must miss a show, do the one on the first night, but it is great... The others are better and involve characters, so DONT miss them!

The opening night show is a variety act - magician, ventriloquist, stand up comedian, that kind of thing. I would also recommend skipping that one.

IMHO, from best to worst:

Disney Dreams (Do not miss!!! and if possible, see the matinee, you might want to see it twice)
Hercules - just plain fun
Golden Mickeys - no real story line, but lots of good music and Ursula is great!
opening night show

All the shows on the Cruise Line totally rock and most of the other posters, DO NOT MISS Disney Dreams!
Now I heard Hercules: The Musical was leaving? If not.. that's another show not to miss.
Here's a list of the current shows on the 4-night Wonder.
Welcome Show
Golden Mickeys
Hercules
Disney Dreams

Personally I would miss Golden Mickeys. It's a great show.. but it just didn't have the things I like in it, like the others. Disney Dreams is pure Disney :-)thumbsup2). Hercules is a great comedy :-)thumbsup2). The Welcome Show is... uh.. Welcoming. And the Golden Mickeys is just.. there. A bit of dancing. No comedy. Maybe not what you'd like?
If you've cruised before, the Welcome Show would be the show to miss, if it's your first cruise.. and your certain you want to miss a show. I say miss the Golden Mickeys.

Don't forget you can put your children into the safe hands of the Oceaneer's Lab. :3dglasses.
What ever you do, I hope you have a fun time, and do all the things you wished for!

Thanks for all the help! If we have to skip one, it will definitely be the first night. (That will give me time to go to the pin trading event in the atrium :goodvibes ) I totally forgot about the Oceaneer Club, that opens up many bright possibilities! Again, thanks a million for the oodles of help!

I posted just before ya. Check it out.
That's another thing not to miss, pin trading! :cool1:

Thanks for the help! About Hercules leaving, that does seem likely, actually (or at least one of the shows leaving is likely) because on the Corporate Disney website they're giving info on auditions for a Toy Story Musical show to be on the cruise. They have very detailed descriptions as to what they want in their performers, so it looks like that's a project we'll be seeing soon!

Also, I get emails and newsletters from Disney about all their stuff and last year around this time I distincly remember an e-mail from the Disney Cruise LIne, advertising some new stuff onboard and in the bottom corner it said "Coming Soon to the Cruise--The Muppets!" and it had a pic of Kermit and Miss PIggy. Any news on that?

The shows aren't that long. Are your kids young? If they like the characters, get there early with some snacks and pick a few front row seats. Being close seems to keep their attention more.

If they're older and not into that stuff sit in the middle or towards the back and dh and the kids can leave midway through.

The enhancements to Disney Dreams are additional laser effects and many other upgraded special effects, such as the flying scenes, and a really big enhancement of the Lion King number. I've always loved the show and was quite impressed with the new additions.

I think it really depends on the ages of those in your family. We would not miss Hercules. We've seen it on both ships and we are really looking forward to seeing it again. Of course my crew is now 19 and 20, they were 14 and 15 on the first cruise and it was still their fave. If I had to miss one, yeah probably the first night, you can always catch the comediens and other entertainers during their shows in the clubs, though I must say they do a great job on the first night too. MMMM tough decision, but yeah first night. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey Pansy........... I noticed we're on the same cruise. I bet you're really getting excited, I know we are.

I'm on the July 22nd Wonder Cruise, too!!! That's so cool! Maybe I'll see you there! We probably won't be getting off at Nassau, but we will definitely get off @ Castaway Cay. I can't wait to see the Flying Dutchman. I'm really excited, it's my first cruise! Oh, the joys of the internet . . .

Take a look at the "Characters on Board" thread to see some of my magical character autographs, such as Tinker Bell and Simba!!!
