Is this the first time 3 entire Lands are being constructed in 3 different Parks simultaneously?

Is it a response to EPIC Universe?

I'm sure it is a response to competition but also just to increased traffic at WDW. They desperately need more bandwidth, especially in HS & AK. Of course, they did take down some things for now, but the new lands will be bigger draws with net more attractions. I think it would've happened regardless of what Universal is doing. If they hadn't built Epic they would still be adding and improving somewhere, so there's always a need. Strong competition keeps everyone on their toes - it's a good thing!

Very true! Disney built Pandora, Toy Story Land, and Galaxy's Edge without any direct provocation.

Well, Harry Potter was the big add that Uni did, and that was at least a partial motivation. I think they still would have done it though, just as Uni would have added something, if it hadn't been Wizarding World.

Great info.

So we do think this is the first time Disney has built 3 entire Lands in 3 different Parks at once?

I can’t think of another time.

I thought the phased opening of New Fantasyland was a response to the expansion of the Wizarding World.
Pandora started development a year after Hogsmeade opened. Disney saw the success of Potter and said we need one of those ASAP. And I'm glad they did as Pandora is great even if the IP it's based on is meh at best.

Pandora needs more rides. Maybe a family coaster and something else from the new movie(s).

It has an expansion pad I believe. They are currently developing an Avatar ride for California Adventure - maybe that could come over (assuming it's not a clone of FOP, but I don't think it's supposed to be).

There are four lands:
1. Monsters Land
2. Tropicanas
3. Villains Land
4. FronTireLand

Okay, the last one is a stretch. Maybe 3.5 Lands.

The Avatar ride is supposed to have the same technology as the Pirates ride in Shanghai which is absolutely amazing, so I'm really excited for that...assuming it has a big enough budget and doesn't get cut down.

I don't think it's specifically a response to Epic Universe. Disney World has to keep expanding to keep up with demand and attract new visitors. They also had to cut a lot of ideas thanks to Covid, so I think they're catching up for lost time.
