Which rule to enforce next?

I agree with all of these - how refreshing!

-In regard to flash photography: the thing that really gets me is many people are using crummy cameras to take pictures in, say, POTC. Not only are you annoying me and taking away from the ride, but your pictures aren't even going to turn out! Talk about a waste. One note, though. If it's late, or no one is on the ride near me, I will sometimes take pictures. But only when there is no one around. I've only done this a few times, though.

-I was in line for Alien Encounter (how I miss thee) and was in the next group to go in. This kid (about 15-16) turns to his mom and says, "I don't want to wait any more), so his mom goes, "Go ahead then," and he just climbs over the rail. Now, I'm sorry, but they count heads for a reason. There's only so many seats in there, and for that mother to encourage it...grrr...anyway, I went to the CM and told him, and they escorted the kid right back into the line. The mother made comments to me but I just ignored them.

-I was appauled a few weeks back when I saw a few women wearing bikinis around the park. Where are we, Cedar Point? What kind of a role model is that for the adorable little girls walking around in Belle and Cinderella dresses? In 10 years you can walk around in a bra? Just MHO.

Maybe as the rule followers, we could also be the users-of-manners. Do you think, "Sir, your cigarette is really bothering my allergies" might get a more favorable response than, "HEY MARGE, GET A LOAD OF THE IDIOT SMOKING IN LINE". It has worked for us. ;)

That line thing is touchy. I personally have had all my kids go to the potty BEFORE we get in a long line. And most of us aren't taking pictures to see that the people pushing past us were there once before. We have never done it, and we have 3 kids that have all gone to Disney since infancy and just after potty training. But, I'll just rool my eyes, and so will my kids.

I definitely agree about flash photography and cell phones. Especially cell phones, considering it happens everywhere- not just Disney. I dislike standing in a crowded bus and having to be forced to hear someone's cell phone conversation.

What bothers me the most is rude people in the parks. Everyone in Disney World is trying to enjoy themselves and the time spent with friends and family. I just wish that everyone would be courteous towards others. Rude behavior towards another just ruins their vacation too. This includes, pushing, shoving, swearing, huffing, etc. We have met awesome people before in the parks who enjoy having conversations and I'm not saying that everyone should smile and be all talkative to one another. It's just acting courteously. Another thing that bothers me is seeing people litter in the parks when there is a trash can about 3 feet away. No one enjoys accidentally stepping on a half-eaten ice cream sandwich. :sad2:

Maybe I'm just being a picky teenager... these are my humble opinions. No flames please.

Not picky at all. Please tell me there are more teenagers out there like you. I have been hard pressed to find any lately. ;)

How about better enforcement on harrassment in the parks. When I was in high school I went to the MK with my older sister and younger brother. I was in line for thunder mountain when a young boy behind me (had to be about 11-13 years old) smacked my butt. I turned around and he gave me a smirk as if to say "what are you going to do about it?" and he and his friend just laughed. As soon as we saw a CM, we told him what happened. We were told to get out of line to we met a manager at the exit. As the kid got off the ride, we pointed him out.....and they let him just WALK AWAY!!! They said if I wanted to press charges then they would have to have a security guard to take care of that. I said I wanted to press charged (just to scare some sense into the kid) but how was I supossed to do that when they let him disappear into the crowd!!!!! I didn't even get to ride big thunder either! I was just so upset that my younger brother was there to watch his sister get sexually harrassed by someone just barely older than he was. Talk about bad policy. They should have stopped him and held him there while we waited for security.

I'm sorry for your experience, but CMs, even managers, aren't security personnel. It would be grieviously irresponsible of them to try to restrain or even confront someone accused of a physical assault. Such a person could be dangerous.

Unless there's something going on, like a health issue or I have to meet someone, I don't even bring my cell phone with me. I managed to go on vacation for YEARS without having a phone with me every second, so I can keep doing it. It's in the room, and I check messages when I come in.

Did you ever wonder if all those people having loud personal conversations on cell phones were the same people that are so concerned about the government listening to phone conversations? Just a random thought I had one day listening to an extremely personal discussion about a divorce-while at the grocery store.

Cell phones are now a MUST-HAVE for us in the parks. Consider how hard it is to find a TS restaurant to eat dinner at, at the last minute. Also, when we separate, there is no better way of finding each other. ADT can reach us on the cell phone, as can our vet.

Wow, that sucks. I would have belted the crap out of him, right there. It'd be the last bottom he smacked in a looooong time.

I really wanted to!!!! I thought I was doing the mature an correct thing by telling a CM but I guess not. I bet if I smacked the crap out of him though I'd probably be the one to get in trouble!

Exactly. Where I live is just teeming with psychotic tweens!

LOL about what to do with the groups gathered at escalators exits and in the middle of walkways!! :rotfl: I should try it but I'm too shy!
While seeing a group of people having a wonderful time at WDW, and oh, bye the way, blocking traffic in a walkway, I mentioned to my wife that I wonder why they don't teach good manners in schools any longer. I then said, "Am I the only one who was taught to walk on the right side at all times"? She said that yes, I was the only one. :confused3

AMEN!!!!! I accept the fact that smokers need to smoke while at the parks, but please, please keep it in the designated areas. It's really unpleasant to be walking next to people who are smoking, or waiting in line with them. The smoke that inevitably drifts over makes my throat burn for the rest of the day.

Disneyfriend
How about this one. I emailed Guest Services (and I use the term loosely!), about what a great idea it is to have the smoking sections at the resorts, Coronado among others. They email me back that it is NOT there. I asked for a phone call and to my surprise I got one. Lady says there is no smoking section at front/auto, bus etc. entrance. I asked her if she had ever actually been to the resort. Few days later, I got another phone call with apology. But really, the cm's and security don't enforce much of anything any more. I am constantly asking them to tell people to go to the smokers area. And I don't buy into the argument that they are minimum wage people. If one doesn't want a minimum wage job, go get a better one. I had a former business partner who didn't finish the sixth grade. He made millions because he wouldn't settle for mediocrity. :thumbsup2

This is the perfect thread; it's all the grumping rolled into one! :rotfl2:

Society is gross, ill-behaved, and rude. Always has been, and unless they start putting valium in the water, always will be. :confused3

You can let it get to you, or you can let it go. :wizard:

I'm amazed, frankly, that civilization has become polite enough to even manage to HAVE a Disney World.

Think of how Attila the Hun would have behaved...
The idea about the water... The late Dr. Timothy Leary had a slightly different additive for the water. :smokin:

This is in response to what rkujay said. Most people in minimum wage jobs are there because their current situation prevents them from getting a better job. They very likely may be working on improving that situation. Furthermore, a person with less than a 6th grade education becoming so prosperous is extremely rare and other people should not be compared to that person. This person must have had some excellent opportunities thrown in his way combined with very good sense.

How about no wrist band please make your way to the EXIT.

Thats for EMH , MNSSHP , MVMCP or any other hard ticket event.
We always get our wrist bands but I think if you don't have one you are allowed to stay in the parks just can't ride anything.

The wristband rule should be inforced. I remember you use to had to show your band before you got in line for the ride.

Cracking down on people who park at the Magic Kingdom Resorts who are not paying guests or just went there for breakfast, lunch or dinner & decide to walk or Monorail on over to the Magic Kingdom for the rest of the day.

Good luck on this one since I don't think it's against any rules.

People should not be allowed to stay in the parks for MNSSHP or MVMCP if they have not paid the $160.00 my family paid to be there. Yes they cant ride the rides but that is not the big draw for these parties, it is all the extra activities they have. Why should we have to fight for a spot for the parade or the fireworks with people that havn't even paid to be there. Now I will not let this ruin my time at the party but I will report people without wristbands and insist they be escorted from the park. O.K rant over. :)
