Which rides would you skip with a bad neck?

We're one week away from our trip, and seeing the pg/Splash Mountain thread reminded me I should find out what rides I need to avoid with a bad neck. I'm not big on thrill rides anyway, so I'm thinking most of the ones likely to be a problem won't be ones I'd like anyway, but is there a list anywhere of which ones aren't recommended for people with neck problems?

Thanks!

I'd avoid Matterhorn, Indy, Screamin and Mulholland Madness for sure. Space Mountain can be a bit jerky at times as well.

Oh, and Autopia. I hate that ride because it always gives me whiplash!

My SIL has a bad back and BTMM bothered her when she went on it a few weeks ago. She did Screamin' with no trouble because it is so smooth. I guess if you don't like thrill rides then you probably won't go on that one anyway but in case someone talks you into it, just make sure to keep your head back for the start or it could hurt your neck during the take-off.

Definately the Matterhorn, it gave me back pain for 4 days after riding it, and Im young, I cant immagine what it would do to your neck.

The grizzly river run can be jerky too as you are constantly spinning and jerking in the water, and tower of terror is sudden drops so your neck can get stiff from tension

5 years ago I went on the Matterhorn, my first ever trip, and I have a very bad back. I never knew that ride threw me all over the place. When I got off that ride my back was " fixed " :confused3 n o kidding, it was fine for a few afterwords. now that's weird! now my back is real bad LOL! not sure Im going to re attempt it :lmao:

I know this was already mentioned -- but absolutely positively avoid Indy! My entire upper body was sore after that ride. :scared:

Another vote to avoid BTMR - that is the only ride DH won't go on with me. He and his dad both have difficult backs, and it hurts them to go on that one.

The part that hurts on Screamin' is the end where it breaks. I have hurt my neck several times, but now I remember to prepare my head for when it's coming.

That part gets me too. You really need to brace yourself at the end or it will hurt.

I have spinal arthritis - technically I probably shouldn't ride anything, but have found that smooth rides are fine. Anything jerky is out of the question. I no longer ride:

Indy
Thunder Mountain
Matterhorn
Tea Cups
Grizzly River Run
Mulholland Madness

I find that Screamin' and TOT are fine, as long as I brace myself for when they stop.

I really miss the rides I have to avoid, but I prefer to enjoy the trip instead of live with more pain!!

Honestly, it depends on what makes your neck pain flair. For me, it is the jerky-side-to-side motion. For others, it is the front-back motion.

When did you ride with Ayden? :rotfl:
I dread it every time, oh my poor neck when he's done driving. I can't wait till he's tall enough to either drive himself or see over the steering wheel better.
LOL

I know this sounds silly...but if your neck is really bad, another one to avoid is Mr. Toad. I knew someone that had a problem with this and he had a bad neck too.

Definitely Indiana Jones! :thumbsup2 I don't have a bad neck, but I ALWAYS do after THAT ride, even though I enjoy it!

Autopia is the wheels of death for me and never will I ride that unless I know I can trust people behind me in another car.

I was riding and everything was fine until I stopped. The car behind me hit me full force so I got shoved forward then the car behind me hit me again and again and never let off the gas. I had to lay down on the ground to get any sort of hold of the pain. I was screaming and the CM would not come and help me out. I love that ride so much but unless it was several dear friend I cannot ride it as it is too poorly managed and people ram other people without caring about the other person.

I agree! :thumbsup2 DH even gets motion sickness on that ride....
