For each park, MK, Epcot, MGM, and AK, assuming that we get to each park at opening, which ride would you recommend getting a FP to first?

This will be our first WDW trip and we're looking for some expert opinions that so many of you DIS'ers seem to have!

THANKS

EPCOT= SOARIN
MGM= Rock n Roller Coaster
MK= Space Mountain or Splash Mountain
AK= Expedition Everest

I go frequently and I've only ridden Soarin in the Stand-by line 3 or 4 times, whenever you can get a FP for Soarin get one since the regular line can get to 90 minutes often.Stand-by line for Test Track and M:S isn't usually over 40 minutes, even though I saw TT's at 60 my last visit, plus those two have singles line to give you another option.

Over at MGM RnRC's line always seems to move slower than Tower of Terror, plus a lot of the line is one of those that go back and forth and gets really annoying if it's not moving.Tower's stand-by line is really nicely themed and makes it more tolerable, plus it is a faster line.

At AK, there's no questions Everest is the new ride and the line will be at 60 minutes or more by 11 am, Dinosaur's line in my experience is always quick and Kali could be pretty long especially if it's hot. The safari ride could also get long so you could get a second fastpass to Kali or KS, but first go with Everest.

At Magic Kingdom Splash and Space mountain are rides that could definitely get long at times, on my last visit they were both around 60 minutes due to spring break and there could be times that the longest they get is 20 minutes, so get one for Space first and then for Splash later in the day.Haunted Mansion, Pirates are rarely long waits, Philharmagic is a 3-d show that holds like 200 or more people and Fastpass migh not help you much.Another ride to consider getting one is at Big thunder, even though it's rarely at 60 minutes unless it's a peak period.

I agree with Soarin', Expedition Everest, Space Mountain, and Rock N Roller Coaster. All of these get crowded really fast, as does Test Track at Epcot. However, if you get to the MK at park opening you will be able to ride both Splash Mountain and Big Thunder with no waits. Frontierland stays quiet for a couple of hours while Tomorrowland gets busy pretty fast.
If you get to any park at opening you will find little waits for most of the attractions with the excpetion of the ones I noted. Even Tower of Terror first thing moves quickly but this also builds pretty fast so you may want to add this to your FP list.

Whichever park you do first, always remember for some reason people usually enter the park and move to the right once inside the gate. That means at, say, MK they are moving from Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Frontier, to Adventure - that's from right to left. So try going "backwards" and go from left to right. That's what has worked for me!

Thank you for all the great tips. They have been added to my Pocket PC!

Part of it depends on which rides are your favorites. But I try to get my first FPs at the rides where I think the fast pass return times will push out the fastest. I won't run all over the park to accomplish that, however, because I don't want to be hot, sweaty and exhausted during my vacation.

Anyway, my usual first choices:

MK: Space Mountain
Epcot: Soarin'
MGM: RnR
AK: Everest
