Which rides do you think could use changes, or even complete overhauls?

My makeover would have to be Expedition Everest, because DISers everywhere are tired of 'dancing disco' with the Yeti.:rotfl:

My overhaul is Stitch's Great Escape!. The reasons are obvious, as others have stated, it stinks, hurts, and is not fun. :headache:

P.S. I will not respond to every post, but I am actively checking this thread.

Splash needs to be repaired. On our last trip (May 2010), it was obvious at the last part of the ride that there were animals and fountains missing... :( Disney can do better!

Hmmm so many to choose from

Spaceship earth
Stitch
Tommorrow and speedway in a Cars theme
Great Movie Ride
Test Track (especially the video...ei. 80s blazer)
Soarin video has gone fuzzy
Figment
Captain EO
Backlot tour could be more
Fantastic has been cut down too much

There are many others but so many people cling to them as the classics. Which is fine and great but it does not negate the fact that over time they have become antedated. A small balance of those are fine, but overall the parks could use some cleaning up when it comes to the attractions. Lastly, have you ever seen the view from the monorail when you come into Epcot. It looks very very worn out from above. Epcot is the worst of the bunch. This is my humble opinion and I am certain some will disagree.

Ooooh, fun topic! I've narrowed my list down:

Makeover: The Great Movie ride- additional newer clips to go with the classics, some 3D effects, new storyline

Overhaul: Stitch's Great Escape.

popcorn::

I so agree with Stich's Great Escape. Everytime I go on that ride, I think to myself "Ok this time I'm gonna figure out what this ride is actually about" by the time it's over I end up more confused than when I came in.

Carousel of Progress- The last "modern" section needs to redone to more 90's feel and a new up to date "modern" section needs to be added. The attraction in general is fine.

The Great Movie Ride-I think the ride itself has a timeless quality to it, though some updates would be ok. What they need to redo is the movie clip package at the very end of the ride. So out of date and bad quality.

Others
Tiki Hut
Stitch
Figment

I agree with The Great Movie Ride. I also think something needs to be done about Astro Orbiter. Bad queue design from the get-go. I don't think the ride is worth it myself and wouldn't mind it getting replace altogether, but my ds(6), feels otherwise. Whoever thought waiting in line to board a crowded elevator would be a good idea, was sadly mistaken. :headache:

Interesting points made in the early posts - sure I'd like the Yetti to work and I'd like the fountain animals in splash to work,

however

If either of these were closed in a trip to WDW, I'd be seriously bummed. I think this is part of the issue with the bigger rides that have some smaller things wrong with them - it's not enough to take the ride offline.

First family trip in a couple weeks. I was so looking forward to many of these rides. This thread curbs my enthusiasm a little. Are these rides still going to be a lot of fun for my family?

No! Don't let this thread get you down! Everyone has their own opinions! If I were you I'd ride every single thing you and your family want to ride so you can form your own opinions. I think most people were only naming rides that need a little tweaking here and there or updating! Have fun! :goodvibes

These attractions will still be a lot of fun.

Soarin - Yes the film could be better but if you are not looking for defects as you would not be the first time you go on it, you won't notice.

Fantasmic - Disney has been adding days back in pretty regular.

Great Movie Ride - Once again, after you have been on many times you would like to see something new but for the most part I think the classic movie scenes hold up pretty well.

Test Track - The attraction is still fun. The pre-show is just a small part of it.

Backlot tour - LMA stunt show has cut into this so it is a trade off.

And so on. People that have been to Disney many times always have their wish lists on what could be better but that doesn't mean they still don't enjoy what is there now.

I think I'll go by park.

AK: Make-over: Expedition Everest (fix the yeti!)

EPCOT: Make-over: Soarin'
Overhaul: Captain EO

HS: Make-over: The Great Movie Ride
Overhaul: Sounds Dangerous

MK: Make-over: Carousel of Progress
Overhaul: Stitch's Great Escape

Yeah, these seem like the most popular suggestions. You think Disney would at least suggest they know about these things.:sad2:

Here's my little list, which was helped because I JUST got home today:

Carousel of Progress (LOVE it...but that final scene needs an update).
Stitch's Great Escape (I don't even think I went on this one this trip...nope, I think we missed it. the Chili dog smell makes me sick :confused3 )
Journey Into Imagination (um...Dreamfinder's return, please?)
Soarin' (Soarin' Over America? I think it would be awesome. or they should just clean up this film. It's still awesome as is!)
Innoventions (Walked through it two days ago and I literally went "...okay, where is everything?" I remember being a kid and it was full of stuff that was super cool and fun. I went in there this trip and there's lots of open spaces and walls up. It's kinda sad. Can't it get some love?)
The Great Movie Ride (out with everything from Gangster and Cowboy (keep those) and definitely replace Alien but I LOVE that Indiana Jones part...and the Wizard of Oz is cute and everybody knows that one but...yeah, I LOVE this ride...but I agree it needs a rehab).

As for Captain EO (which is my personal favorite Future World attraction...and I'm currently staring at the poster I bought on clearance (they had WAY to many)), I just LOVE it! I think the effects are great but my mom tells me we're missing lasers(?) (I didn't see it during it's original run so I have no clue) so maybe that would make it even more awesome. I think we could use a restored version of the film or even digital. The film is old and the glasses are new...yeah, I think that's why I sometimes saw two EOs instead of the one. LOVE LOVE LOVE this :3dglasses but...needs a tiny bit of TLC. (Oh and I saw it three times this trip...twice one day, and literally, all shows were half full! :woohoo: Mostly it was kids who would do that MJ "hee-hee" thing after the show...and all day and there was applause and it was just really cool!) :3dglasses

I don't think I've ever even seen the Yeti; maybe I'm distracted, so its brokenness doesn't bother me. If Everest was down I would have no real reason to go to AK as it's not a favorite park. Very aesthetically wonderful, but not a lot of interest for me otherwise.

Carousel of Progress gets my vote as needing an update, but I wouldn't want it to go completely modern... its old school vibe is part of its charm. :D

I'd actually disagree and say that I enjoy Stitch's Great Escape (and I was even one of the "lucky" few that Stitch decided to full-fledge spit on!) I thought it was cute and funny, and a pretty good way to change out that old terrible Extraterrestrial Alien Encounter that I remembered terrified me as we walked by it when I was little.

I'd agree that it would be neat to see the Yeti in action, but I would also agree that it's much better to have the ride actually operating while I'm there versus being shut down for what I would imagine would be a long period in order to fix the yeti. While yes, it's fun to see the yeti, my favorite part of the ride is the roller coaster itself, and that I'm really happy with.

Also would go with updating the Carousel, because it made me laugh when we went in January to see their updates. Nothing too major though; after having Splash Mountain be down for renovations during our last visit, I'd rather wait on overhauls so I can see my favorites!

..what's wrong with the yeti?
when I rode Everest last, it was fine.

as in what I think should be overhauled/ made-over, I agree with everyone else. Stitch needs to go, or at least redone. I personally love stitch and I feel they should have some attraction Lilo & Stitch related, but SGE is NOT it. the Alien Encounter should have been upgraded and a Stitch attraction of much more enjoyment should have gone up somewhere else.

Basically, back when EE first opened, the Yeti actually moved and swung at your as you went under it. There was a straight light on it vs. a strobe light, so he was much more visible and probably scarier as he took a swing at you. Problem is, the yeti weights a LOT and all of the movement caused the platform that he's on to crack. They needed to stop having him move as he would become a safety hazard to those on the ride. (Yeah sorry, wouldn't want a 22 foot tall yeti falling one me, haha.)

You can read more about it on the Wikipedia page for EE. (I'd link it however I'm not allowed to post links/images until I hit 10 posts on here.
