Which rides are NO-NOs for motion sickness?

I get motionsickness--sometimes severe. These are the things that bothered me

Body Wars
Mission Space(never,ever again!)
Soarin (not terrible but definately nauseous)
Primevil Whirl
TeaCups (if turned fast)

Won't even try:
Tower of Terror
Splash Mountain
Rockin Roller Coaster
(hate that stomach drop thing!)

My husband was finished for the evening after the teacups. He sat on a bench the rest of the evening, while I played with the DDs. For me, it is Body Wars in Epcot. The simulation + the whole blood/body scenario just makes me sick. :crazy2:

May 2001-All Star Sports
July 2003-CSR
Nov/Dec 2005-Wilderness Lodge :cheer2: :cheer2:

I can't do any sort of spinny rides, I stay CLEAR of Mission space (although I would say take a few extra dramamine and at least do it once), primevil whirl :scared:, and Star Tours, not sure why this one gets me. Also after about the third time in a row...Rock-n-roll rollercoaster. TOT doesn't bother me at all...

I have a major problem with motion sickness, always have.

Speaking from experience:
Star Tours
Body Wars
RNC (but I'm willing to give that one another try)
Airplane ride (sometimes a necessary evil)

I don't do
Teacups
Carousels
Dumbo (or the other rides like it)
Primevil Wirl

Loved Tower or Terror, it's my favorite and has never made me sick! The other coasters didn't bother me.

Hope this helps!

Vanessa

Hear hear on the teacups! My husband gets queasy just walking past them!! We rode them on our honeymoon 14 years ago, and he STILL refuses to ride them again. Star Tours is also a baddie for motion sickness (Body Wars too -- same concept).

Our WDW ritual now is that we all take a 12-hour Dramamine II (non-drowsy) at breakfast each morninig, and we don't have to worry about motion sickness for the rest of the day.

I don't mean SEVERE motion sickness, but I really don't like that 'stomach dropping' feeling.

What rides should I not ride?

I don't want to ruin my trip by riding something that will make me sick... but I want to be able to ride some stuff with my hubby.

I won't go near Mission:Sapce, Soarin', Mickey's Philharmagic (Jasmine & Aladdin on the flying carpet makes me queasy:( ), Astro Orbiter, riding the TTA facing backwards sometimes bothers me, and I have to close my eyes in the next-to-last room on Buzz Lightyear. Every now and then, I'll have trouble with Space Mountain. I've not ridden Test Track or ToT.

That's the one I was going to mention! I have a cast-iron stomach, so nothing bothers me. DH, however, has issues with spinny things as well as some motion simulators.

He has a few that he tried, but didn't like:
Mission: Space- he didn't know about the spinning, and was very ill feeling for a few hours afterward.
Philharmagic- the exact scene mentioned above (my favorite part of the show, but he felt like he was going to hurl)
TOT- not for spinning, but for the "stomach in the mouth" feeling.

Things he won't go on, even to try:
Dumbo
Aladdin's Flying Carpets
Triceratops Spin
Teacups (he doesn't even like looking at them!)
Primeaval Whirl

Things I thought he'd hate that he is okay with:
RNR
Star Tours
Dinosaur
Virtual reality stuff at DQ

We haven't tried Soarin' yet, but from how he reacted during Philharmagic, he might not enjoy it.

I'm sure glad I'm not the only one that has issues with Philharmagic, LOL...people often look at me strangely when I tell them it makes me sick

Well, I did give DH the  look when he told me it bothered him... but I'll have to let him know he's not the only one with flying carpet issues! :teeth:

unfortunately, motion sickness varies from person to person...
some people with motion sickness can ride a particular ride with no problem while anothe person will be nauseous for hours...

i have very severe motion sickness and cannot ride many rides...
some of them i've ridden and know...others i've been wise enough to stay off...

from experience i know that i can't ride Rock and Roller Coaster, Star Tours, Body Wars, Thunder Mountain Railway, Dumbo, Alladin's Magic Carpet Ride, the Carousel, Primeval Whirl (and i have to keep my eyes closed for any 360 type movies - like the timekeeper, the aladin part of philharmagic, the movie in china, etc.)....

other rides that i've never tried but assume they'll be a problem are Mission Space, the teacups...

Rides that I CAN ride without problem: Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, Kali River Rapids, Test Track, Soarin, Dinosaur....

What rides should I not ride?

I don't want to ruin my trip by riding something that will make me sick... but I want to be able to ride some stuff with my hubby.

The three rides that have caused me issues over the years and that I will no longer ride are the following.

1. Body Wars - Since the Wonders of Life Pavillion is not open on a regular basis this is not really and issue any longer. What is interesting is that I am okay on Start Tours but Body Wars did not sit well with me. I think it had to do with the coloring of the film compared to Star Tours.

2. Prime Evil Whirl - I was able to ride this without issue a few times. On my last ride while we were going around a corner I swear that I felt my brain smash off of the inside of my skull and my symptoms after this were consistent with a concussion.(sp?) I will not ride this in the future but my husband loves this ride and it is a must do for him.

3. Mission Space - I have ridden this two times. Both times I did not get physically ill but I just felt off for the rest of the day. I will not ride this again. My husband on the other hand likes this ride and it is a must do for him

I find with rides that each person had to give them a try for themselves or just made the decision to not give them a try at all.
