Which restaurant would you suggest at MGM? We haven't decided on lunch or dinner, but we were thinking of either 50's Prime Time or Hollywood & Vine, which one? If you don't like either, please suggest away.

You really set no paramaters so here goes. The best place to eat at MGM is the Brown Derby. It is more expensive but I think it's worth it. We also had a great lunch at Sci Fi.

I would say 50's prime time more for the fun atmosphere. However my personel fav is Brown Derby. You didn't say who was in your group if you have young kids I'd say Hollywood and Vine. Boy that wasn't any help was it:teeth: :D .

By all means, the Brown Derby. Go during the lunch times, I beleive it is from 11:30 till 3 or 4. The menu is pretty much the same but less $. The food is always good there and we go every time we visit wdw. Which, since we live in florida , is at least once a month.

I hear the Brown Derby is not kid friendly. If traveling with children, your best bet is Sci-Fi or 50's Prime Time.

I was looking forward to the Brown Derby and was just curious if others who have had a meal here feel it is not children friendly? Thanks for any opinions!

We found the pace of meals at Brown Derby could be a bit slower than other places which for some kids is too much. I like Sci-Fi for kids who are energetic, there is plenty for them to look at while they wait. Hollywood and Vine is also good as there is no wait for food.

Both H&V and Prime Time are good. I would suggest choosing which menu you like best. We LOVE the atmosphere at the Prime Time, but I dont like the food. What I mean is the quality of the food is very good, I am just picky an dont like the kind of food they offer. I love the atmosphere and the choices at H&V. I do think for kids the atmosphere can be fun at Prime Time, what kid doesnt enjoy seeing their parent get in trouble for not cleaning their plate, or having their elbows on the table :D.

Although our children are now 22,20 & 17, we've been going to Brown Derby since MGM opened and have always found it to be "kid-friendly" as are all restaurants at WDW in our opinion. I will say that service is slower there than just about any restaurant at WDW. The food is very good. We also very much enjoy Mama Melrose.

We do not care for Primetime. We've never tried Sci-Fi because everyone I know at home who has strongly recommends against it.

Thank you for all the info, I would love to try the Brown Derby, I want one of the cobb salads, but my 2 1/2 year old gets restless if you have to wait too long at a restaurant. I have tried to set up resv. at places that would be entertaining to her. She eats, and then she's ready to go, which is sometimes frustrating, but what are you going to do? I have planned a couple character dinners, I hope that goes well, she wouldn't get near the characters in Juliy, so I don't want her to have a meltdown. My 9 year old wants to see the characters though, so I guess I will walk her to the buffet if she gets scared during their visit to our table.

We Love the H&V character lunch. It is a buffet & would be great for your kids!

We were not impressed with either Sci-Fi (& we have heard this from many friends/familymembers, too) or Brown Derby. We don't care for the food selections at Brown Derby & didn't like the food at Sci-fi. The atmosphere was neat though!

with a 2 1/2 I would say H&V for a character breakfast or lunch.
If you have older kids also, they might get a kick out of Prime time. Heck the adults in our group get a kick out of primetime

Sorry to throw this completely out of whack, but we love Mama Melrose. I know it gets mixed reviews on this board, but it is one of our favorites. Although we love the Disney atmosphere, Mama Melrose is always a nice little escape into a real-world restaurant when things get a little too "Disney-crazy" around mid-trip and you need a break!
But it is also very kid friendly....our 12, 8 and 4-year-olds loved it along with mom and dad!!

First let me agree with those recommending the Brown Derby.
Second--it is quite kid friendly--especially the "Post Fantasmic" version of the Derby. Lots of kids there most evenings on the Fantasmic Package.

I would recommend the Brown Derby also. We have found it to be very kid friendly.

we did the Prime Time Cafe for the 1st time about 2 weeks ago and it was by far one of the best meals we had all week!!!

Our favorite spot for lunch is Prime Time. Food is down home, waitresses are a hoot! Brown Derby is expensive, but a delightful place for dinner, with fabulous ambience and a very attentive wait staff.

Prime Time Cafe is our one "must do" each time we go to MGM! The waitstaff is wonderful -- you get to meet your long lost cousins from a neighboring state at the next table -- the kids LOVE the kidding and the teasing that goes on. They have the BEST fried chicken I have ever tasted, the true old fashioned kind. We went their with our in-laws once, all eight of us, and we still remember the nicknames that each of us had! Princess, Junior, etc.
