Which resorts have reasonable suites?

I'm looking for a 1 bedroom suite or room with separate sleeping quarters. It doesn't necessarily have to have a kitchen, just looking for a separate area where the kids (almost 5 & 1) can sleep without us being on top of them!

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Mom2jpw-- welcome to the DIS!!!

I think there are a couple options that would work well for you-- the first is to look into the All Star Suites which are opening at All-Star Music (I'm not sure when they are actually available, though-- I'm sure someone else can chime in there!)

The other good option is if you were to rent points from a DVC member and get a 1 bedroom villa at one of the DVC resorts. This would be significantly cheaper then reserving any of the actual suites at other resorts. Check out the boards on Disney Vacation Club (DVC) to learn more about the villas/ renting points. DVC is Disney's version of a timeshare, and where you can pay cash for the rooms, it is significantly cheaper to rent points from an owner!

I think anytime you're dealing with WDW pricing, "reasonable" is a relative term. ;)

I'll add that there are also suites at the CSR resort, although I imagine they are more expensive than the ones at All-Star.

Another option is the cabins at FW. They sleep 6 people, I think, and also have kitchenettes, etc.

Heheh...good point. Suites will always be more expensive than regular rooms, and since lots of folks consider the regular rooms to be expensive, they'll surely consider the suites to be even more so!

The one bedroom suites at Animal Kingdom Lodge are "reasonably" priced, they are comparable to a "regular" concierge room at the deluxes. With kids that age though, I don't know that I would choose AKL because I love the convenience of the monorail and proximity to the Magic Kingdom. Your best bet may be two connecting rooms--I believe all the resorts on property offer this option.

Visit my website or this THREAD for CSR suite layouts.

Prices vary depending on season. Prices are listed value, regular, peak & holiday

Jr Suite - double = $290, $335, $395, $435
Jr Suite - king = $310, $360, $425, $455
VIP Suite double - 1 bedroom suite = $580, $635, $705, $775
VIP Suite king - 1 bedroom suite = $580, $635, $705, $775
Executive Suite - 2-bedroom suite = $860, $940, $1,010, $1,140

Most of the suites are in the casita's, but there are a couple exceptions:
All 5 Executive Suites are in Casita's 1. All but one of the VIP Suite's are also located in Casita's 1, the other is in cabana 9B. The Junior Suites are in Casita's 1 & 3, and there are 2 or 3 in the cabana's (One each in 8B, & 9B)

We loved the Fort Wilderness cabins, kids in the bedroom, parents on the very comfy Murphy bed in the living room. We could shut the door and watch tv. Actually could stay up past 10pm!

The WL has a jr suite --bedroom and living room with sleeper sofa. You can close french doors between them. I looked into it, but didn't book it, so I can't say from experience how it is.

We have been looking for the same thing. We have pretty much decided on 2 connecting rooms at a value resort (value season) for $158. It has been rough for the kids to get to sleep in the past unless it is totally dark and quiet and that is hard on us because we are not tired at 9pm. If one child is sleepy they can rest while the others in our group watch TV. I just can't see spending more $ since we will have DDP and won't need a kitchen.

If you really want 2 rooms and don't want to spend the price, get 2 rooms at a value. We have done only one room with our kids, and it is never a problem really. Although, I must say our last vacation, I had problems with DS sleeping in the pack-n-play but that was a non-disney trip and I am hoping it will not be much of a problem this time.

Bicker, yours and Grimley1968's posts were wicked funny! (And, yes, I have stayed in suites at WDW so maybe that's why I'm laughing so much - because the pricing wasn't the least bit funny.) ;)

Mom2jpw, I loved the Fort Wilderness cabin that I stayed in last year. I can't wait to stay there again. Also, the suites at the Animal Kingdom Lodge were more reasonable in price than the suites at the Yacht Club or Grand Floridian. And since I am a DVC member, I love staying in one- or two-bedroom villas on points.

I have photos of some of the suites that I've stayed in in a couple of on-line photo albums: click here for my main album. I don't have all my suite and villa photos in there, but do have some. For example, I have photos of one- and two-bedroom suites at the AKL, a two-bedroom suite at the YC, a two-bedroom suite at the GF, a one-bedroom villa at OKW, and even a cabin at Fort Wilderness.

I hope that helps a little bit. Have a wonderful vacation.

Janet2k, Thanks for sharing your suites with all of us. I am homesick already. The suites just have so much to offer and are so enjoyable. :thumbsup2
