Which resorts book-up quickest? Varies?

I never knew that you could book a resort years from the planned stay until I read it on this board! Wow! Cool. From your experience, which resort is the hardest to get into, especially at peak vacation times? I am really just curious. In 1986 we stayed at Fort Wilderness campgrounds. Fun but NOT my first choice since I was on ly 17.

This year we are staying off sire at Sheraton's Vistana resort because it was a "gift week" from my parents. I want to book a vacation on-site Disney just for the experience!

At peak times...you'll find it hard to get a room at the All Star Movies...
Over the holiday most of the values are extremely hard to get...usually there are rooms available...just not for the full week your there...for instance...they may be book solid for saturday and sunday but have rooms open for the rest of the week...

Most of the moderates stay "hassel free" as there are many rooms at POR, CBR, CSR....but POFQ has few rooms..and does book fast...

as for the deluxes...they do get attendence...but at peak times those resorts are expensive...so a lot of people flock to the values and moderates...

if you budget your time...and know to book ahead of time..like 3-4 months at least...then you should have no problem finding a room...if your going down at really peek times...july 4th, christmas...then try to book as far in advance as you can to be on the safe side...

back in september when I started to do my daily price quotes for a trip June 8th to th 15th - everything was open - by first quarter of the year Allstars were getting booked for those dates, Moderates were still open, deluxes were all still open with all options except the contemporary started to show a lack of choices... then the war started and bookings at the AS resorts dropped off, and the contemporary dropped off so all options were open again - and all the other resorts still had good availability - From what I could tell it was an unusual year because there would be no availability at the Value resorts and then there would be two days later - part of it was that schools had to extend their school year... but by the beginning of May - 45 days out from our trip... availability at Values went away, then availability at Contemporary went away, followed by the Polynesian, and while there was availbility at the GF when we left for the trip... options were limited to one type of room.

I had a whole list of places that were totally booked up by two weeks out from the travel date - roughly half of the dis resorts were full capacity
