I will be arriving about 6 hours prior to my brother...so after checking in (we're staying at YC) and grabbing something to eat, I'll have some time to kill...and I was thinking of exploring some of the resorts...

This is only my second time staying on site (as an adult....about 30 years ago i stayed at CR and "the Golf Resort"--but I was 9 years old) so the only resort I've seen much of is BWI.

This will be during day time hours (approx. noon-5 pm) in mid September....

Either head over to MK and do the monorail resort loop - we love exploring GF and always stop at Poly for a drink and you can take the boat over to WL if you have more time to kill- or head over to AKL. It is gorgeous and we enjoyed watching the animals. They have good QS and the bar is beautiful. Also the shop there has some unique things.

my sister and I take a day and go to all resort gift shops and look around sometimes it gets us in $$$ trouble but is fun and her husband goes to Boardwalk to ESPN and hangs all day watching sports. we use the monorail and the buses and go back to DTD and then take another resort bus. is a ritual with us now done it for 20 years. we even sneak in naps on the monorail to cool off...

I would go see the monorail resorts (take a bus to MK and then hop on the resort monorail) because you can cover three easily. There are lots of shops and restaurants, so there is a lot to do. Besides, it would mean riding the monorail, which seems so very "Disney-ish" to me!

Otherwise, you might consider heading over to DTD. Also, lots of shops and restaurants. Wandering around DTD can easily take up the better part of an afternoon.

Mid Sept, afternoon, mmm - I'd head to SAB, hang out by the pool, grab lunch @ Beaches and Cream or Hurricane Hannahs by the pool and just chill/swim w/ a cold one until my brother got there.
To get to another resort, would you be driving or using the buses? If using the buses allow @ least an hour to hop from resort to resort as you have to transit via a park or DTD. I love AKL to visit, or as others have said, the MK monorail resort loop is fun.

I was going to say walk around the EPCOT resorts (BC, BWI, Swan, Dolphin), but you have all week for that... so I'd get to the monorail and check those resorts out. Have a drink at Poly! :woohoo:

AKL!! Just a beautiful resort. Hopping the Monorail Resorts is always fun too.

If you are staying at yacht/beach...then you are already at the best...

But if you're looking to kill time...the lodges are the way to go.

Animal kingdom for the look/ uniqueness...wilderness because it is the best themed/ constructed Hotel in Disney history - my opinion

My favorite resorts to explore -

The Grand Floridian - I love the big band music!
The Contemporary - the monorail is just cool!
The Wilderness Lodge - love to just get a counter service meal here and dine on the patio - great ambiance!

Last but NOT LEAST - Animal Kingdom Lodge - by far my absolutely favorite resort to explore!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes
