Which Resort Would you Chose?

Where should we stay?

  • Stay at AKL/WL/Swan/Dolphin. Your blood pressure would go up if you say bill for one of the others.

  • Try YC/BC. They are so much better than Swan & Dolphin.

  • Try Poly. lagoon view. It is simply the best.

  • Nothing beats a tower room at CR especially if you can get MK view.

  • You love AKL & WL. So why not be pampered and stay concierge on one of those resorts.

We have a big project at work and I am going to be working approx. 20 to 25 hours a week OT for the next year to year and 1/2. My DH and I (both age 50) usually stay at one of the low level deluxe (WL or AKL) or Swan/Dolphin when we can get a good discount. We have AP so we won't have to buy tickets for our Dec trip. I am thinking about staying at one of the other deluxes this year because of the amount of extra money I will be making. My DH said since I am the one who will be working all of the extra hours I get to chose where we are staying this year. It isn't that I don't love WL, AKL, Swan & Dolphin because I do. I am always very happy with them. So... what would you do? Splurge and stay someplace I am normally to cheap to consider (my DH does say sometimes he hears my shoes squeek when I walk) or stay at one the places we uusally stay?

I would splurge and stay at the Poly. We have stayed at the WL twice out of our last three trips and are booked there again this fall. However, I am thinking about splurging and switching to the Poly.

I love staying at the CR tower MK view, it's wonderful. For your choices, I am torn between CR MK view or Polynesian Lagoon View. Enjoy your vacation wherever you decide to stay!

I personally love AKL... it's our favorite... even over other resorts that cost a lot more. BUT... I voted for YC/BC, because it sounds like you've stayed at AKL multiple tiems and are up for a bit of a splurge. WDW has so many great resorts that it's always fun to try something new!

Go for the splurge and try something new - I just know that there is a place you've always wanted to stay but haven't because of the cost.

They are not on your list, but consider a 1 bedroom at one of the DVC resorts. You'll get a king bed, a jacuzzi tub, a fully equipped kitchen (no need to cook but the frig is a great place to store drinks, LOL) and a washer/dryer right in the unit. If it were me, I'd try for the Boardwalk - walk to two parks, Boardwalk nightlife is just a few steps away and there are many wonderful restaurants in the area. You'll come home with many wonderful memories to help you get through your long hours of OT.

Best wishes -

Since this is a special trip and you've already done AKL, WL, Swan and Dolphin I say go for the Poly lagoon view! I've stayed at Poly many, many times (though never in a lagoon view) and I love it there. It's a beautiful resort in a great location.

We have stayed at the YC and Poly and I believe if I had a choice I would pick YC. We loved the resort, the location and SAB. Dont get me wrong we did like the Poly too, just YC has a slight edge over Poly for us.
AKL is wonderful as well. We are not huge Swan/Dolphin fans so that would be our last choice.
Havent stayed at WL yet but we would love to.

I voted for the Poly for several reasons:

1) You DESERVE the splurge
2) it is in an area you have never stayed in before
3) what could be more relaxing than sitting on the beach with a foo foo drink in you hand and watching Wishes?
4) you DESERVE the splurge!

Have fun deciding!

I picked a try something different approach since that's what we like to do. I absolutely loved our stay at the Yacht Club, but was so thrilled I also got to try the Wilderness Lodge. This year we're trying Poly concierge and The Beach Club Villas. I don't know if either will be better than the YC, but I like that we will get to try something new and different. We also loved our stays at the various All Stars and especially enjoyed Port Orleans-FQ stay, but getting to sample more resorts are fun for us too. Have fun whatever you decide!

I don't know how long your staying for but what about Splitting the difference...

Say the first half at AKL/WL/Swan or Dolphin so you can stay at one you know you like
Then Stay the last half at The Poly or the YC.

If you stay at WL then stay at YC
If you stay at S/D then stay at Poly
That way you can split between being close to EPCOT and MK as well.

Just my thoughts

Everyone has great suggestions.. but I think the foo foo drink on the beach has just about convinced me Poly might be the way to go!!!! Now.. will my poor heart be able to stand seeing the amount it will cost? :rotfl: :rotfl: Hopefully there will be some good AP rates available fro the 2nd week in Dec. Thanks all for your suggestions.... It is a tough decision. But I think I am going to pick someplace where I would never chose again because of price.

I know what you mean about loving the AKL. It is my absolute favorite. Even though I say I stay there because it is less expensive then most of the deluxes, I love sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine or cup of coffee and watching the animals. It is so relaxing. I love the Swan/Dolphin because of its great location but when we go visit AKL for breakfast at Boma when we are not staying there I always wish that was where I was. I think I am just hooked on AKL. :)
