.......for 7 adults? Old Key West...or Boardwalk Villas-Standard View? We will be renting one 2 bedroom, plus one studio...hopefully near each other.

No, the we can get Boardwalk Standard for just a small amount more than Old Key West. Beach Club is way out of our price range...sadly.

If all adults I would choose Boardwalk ... walking to Epcot alone is plus, the boardwalk, walk to DHS or ability to walk to BC/YC Swan and Dolphin for eats/drinks added bonus. OKW is more isolated other than the boat to DS.

You , a renter, can not count on Boardwalk Standard. I understand it shows up when you look & it is cheaper. But they are usually taken by owners & seldom available to rent, especially since you want 2 units. Wish for it, but plan on cheaper alternatives.

If it's available....Boardwalk all the way. For adults...having the fine dining and adult beveraging opportunities the Epcot Resort Loop, not to mention Epcot itself can offer.....priceless.

She means "more expensive." Early December is the highest demand time for DVc all year. BWV Standard is very popular and limited, especially for 2 units. Pool/Garden should be your budget, with hopes of Standard. But if budget relies on Standard, be prepared to stay at OKW, as it is a far easier booking as a renter, even at 11 months.

There are a total of 37 lock-off 2BR units in the Standard category at BWV, which are made up of a studio and a 1BR unit. There are an additional 15 dedicated Standard studios. Of that first 37, every time a studio is booked, it removes a 2BR from inventory.

The first week of December is the single highest-demand DVC week of the year. To get even one BWV standard unit, you will need an owner online at 8AM to book, and they might only be able to get one of the two rooms. You are unlikely to get these highly-demanded rooms via a rental broker.

I've usually find Boardwalk and Beach Club close to the same price. Since Epcot and HS are easy to get to I say Boardwalk

Why is the first week of December in such high demand? I thought it was one of the less crowded times??

It is popular with DVC members. DVC bookings do not follow the same pattern as cash bookings. DVC members enjoy the low points needed to book rooms in early December, the mild weather, the somewhat lower crowds (as much more of the crowd is based on cash hotel bookings and off-site guests than DVC capacity), Christmas decor and the special parties for DVC members that often happen in that time (Merry Mixers).

You're talking about a DVC rental, so you are impacted by early December being the top time for DVC members to use their points to travel. It means fewer points are being rented, and being able to book promptly at 8:00AM at 11 months is key to getting high-demand bookings.

BW if you can get it. The location can't be beat. While OKW is nice and spacious, it's a bit isolated.

Thank you all for your input! I guess all I can do is try! I will not be too disappointed to go with Key West! Whatever happens, happens!

If you book the BWV two bedroom, it will be a lockoff. That means you'll have one king bed in the master bedroom, one queen sleeper sofa in the living room. In the second bedroom (which is the same as a studio), you'll have one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa. With the extra studio, you'll have three real beds and one person sleeping on a sleeper sofa.

At OKW, all the second bedrooms are two queen beds and all studios are two queen beds - no sleeper sofas.

I just stayed at OKW for the first time and absolutely loved it - the size of the "living" room in the 1 bedroom is way larger than you get a any of the other DVC 1 or 2 bedrooms. I got a building (building 64) near the Hospitality House - very close to walk (request an elevator building and near Hospitality House if you can). they have an internal bus system that takes you there and the buses to the parks make about 4 stops within OKW but walking to the pool and for mug refills can't be beat from those close to the Hospitality House.

In fact, we liked it so much that we are buying a re-sale contract there for 200 points - which is enough for us to alternate between a week in a one bedroom each January and a two bedroom. The two bedroom sleeps 9 - so you could get away with just a two bedroom unit (2 queen beds in one room, one king bed in the other and then a pull out couch and pull out twin bed chair in the living room).

My other DVC contract is at BCV which we also love - we're going to make our January Marathon trips at OKW and our F&W trips at BCV.

I've heard great things about Key West, but I've never stayed there. The Boardwalk is my favorite resort. I love everything about it, and I think the location is better.
