I bought at BLT for several reasons:
1. the location to MK - walking distance
2. monorail to MK, Poly, GF, TTC
3. boat to FW
4. my first trip as a child was at CR, followed by many family vacations there
5. since we had kids, all of our trips have been at CR.
This location made the most sense for me, based on past experience. I have stayed at CR many times and always loved it. I am hoping I will love BLT as much.
As a child I also stayed at Poly a few times and loved it!
As an adult I have stayed at CBR several times and really liked it but feel the transportation isn't what I want when traveling w/children. This resort is fine for adults IMO.
As an adult I have also stayed at a few hotels in an area that was once called the Disney Village (hotels not owned by Disney) and liked those too. Again I feel those are fine for adults but not what I am looking for when traveling w/my children.
On a recent trip we stayed at the Swan and did love the location to Epcot and Studios, but the walls were thin and we heard a lot of noise in the hallway during the night. I could however see myself owning at BWV or BCV.
What WDW Resorts have you stayed in? That might help you to decide.
Good luck!

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that we each use to go to WDW as kids when MK was the only park. I have an emotional attachment to MK that I do not have to any of the other parks. I use to have this same attachment to Epcot, but since most of the attractions have changed since I was a kid, I do not get the same "home" feeling anymore.
Your philosophy of buying where you don't mind staying is a good one (and also went into the mix in our decision).
