which resort would you choose?

I bought at BLT for several reasons:
1. the location to MK - walking distance
2. monorail to MK, Poly, GF, TTC
3. boat to FW
4. my first trip as a child was at CR, followed by many family vacations there
5. since we had kids, all of our trips have been at CR.

This location made the most sense for me, based on past experience. I have stayed at CR many times and always loved it. I am hoping I will love BLT as much.

As a child I also stayed at Poly a few times and loved it!
As an adult I have stayed at CBR several times and really liked it but feel the transportation isn't what I want when traveling w/children. This resort is fine for adults IMO.
As an adult I have also stayed at a few hotels in an area that was once called the Disney Village (hotels not owned by Disney) and liked those too. Again I feel those are fine for adults but not what I am looking for when traveling w/my children.
On a recent trip we stayed at the Swan and did love the location to Epcot and Studios, but the walls were thin and we heard a lot of noise in the hallway during the night. I could however see myself owning at BWV or BCV.

What WDW Resorts have you stayed in? That might help you to decide.

Good luck!

Please excuse my ignorance as I am new to DVC - we passed ROFR yesterday and am looking forward to planning our first trip once the procedure is complete. My question is does it really matter what location you buy into since you can use your points at any location? Other than the 11 versus 7 month advanced booking privilege, I see no other benefit to buy into a location with a high annual maintenance free. Are people finding that the 7 month advance booking is too limited?

Thanks

I think it depends on the resort. If you want to get into a smaller resort (BCV,BLT) than having the 11 month window is huge. We bought in BLT because that is where I think we would want to stay most often. Also, I figured getting into AKV shouldn't be too difficult since we usually travel at slower times.

My husband and I are considering the DVC. We have looked at new and resales. We have 3 children ages 13,9, and 8. What I would like to know is what property is your favorite?

The biggest piece of advice I can offer is to let your children have a voice in what resort you choose. We let our teenagers have a say and ultimately we went with what they liked. If they are happy then me and DH are too. We opted for AKV's and have no regrets because it fits our family perfectly. We love a lot of the other DVC resorts too, such as BLT (location, location, location!), but we know we can trade out when the whim hits us.

remember as your children get older their taste changes. If they like MK now ,I bet in the near future they will love HS and Epcot.

I still agree to BUY WHERE YOU DON'T MINE STAYING if nothing else is available.

If you buy in just because of cheaper MF's (say like OKW) but don't really want to stay there ,you could be staying there a lot.

I hear (read) this all the time on here, but DW and I are both 36 and MK is still our favorite park. :rotfl: Maybe it has something to do with the fact that we each use to go to WDW as kids when MK was the only park. I have an emotional attachment to MK that I do not have to any of the other parks. I use to have this same attachment to Epcot, but since most of the attractions have changed since I was a kid, I do not get the same "home" feeling anymore.

Very true. Although my tastes may be just as likely to change if they keep coming out with new DVC resorts. :rotfl: I think add ons help to cure that problem. ;) Your philosophy of buying where you don't mind staying is a good one (and also went into the mix in our decision).
