Which resort would you choose POR or CBR. How would you compare the two?

ok, why was I only able to send the thread with my location? How do I get rid of it? I am a newbie here..thanks

I would choose POR. Reasons: 1) love the boat from POR to downtown Disney. 2) like that POFQ is a short walk or boat ride and you have another food court with different options. 3) CBR is HUGE- there is an internal bus that picks guest up to take them to food court and main pool.

Definitely CBR! We've been to both POR and CBR at the same time of year (mid-late August). CBR is, officially, my "home away from home".

I thought POR was nice but it just wasn't me - we were in one of the mansions across the river from the main building. The pool and slide were excellent and the boat to DTD was neat.

BUT....

CBR - I love the tropical colors of the buildings, the greenery was lush with flowers EVERYWHERE, the pool was excellent, and everything - main bldg, "quiet" pool, laundry bldg, bus stop - was really close by (we requested and got Jamaica bldg 45).

I have stayed at CBR and it was a great stay. The resort is beautiful. The pool is a lot of fun and the kiddos loved it. It was a great week. I have not stayed at POR, but have friends who have and they loved their week as well. I would probably go back to CBR as I think the pool is better for our kids ages (9,7,4,2,&2). The zero entry pool makes it easy for the younger ones. You will not go wrong choosing either one, so don’t sweat it and have a great vacation!! :thumbsup2

I have stayed at both and POR is my hands down favorite.

I was not a fan of the elongated layout of CBR as opposed to the more rounded version of POR. Things seem to be more centrally located at POR, as opposed to CBR.

Also I like the fact that once you get off the perimeter bus stops and get up to the buildings at POR via the sidewalk, you can walk under the corridors/walkways in the shade. At CBR, you have to walk through parking lot the entire way.

Also, I love, love, love the water taxi to DTD. I go solo often and end my day at a resort for dinner. I love the ease of taking the bus to the hub at DTD and then take the water taxi back to POR. Since they run every 10 minutes in the evening, you never wait very long.

POR would get my vote. Beautiful resort, quite peaceful. I like the pictures of CBR that I have seen and if they ever get queen beds, I will happily stay there.

I haven't stayed at CBR so I can't comment on that. We stayed at POR in the AB section several years ago and I loved everything about it!

The CMs were friendly, mouse keeping was great and I think it has one of the best food courts on property.

I much prefer POR, it's my favorite moderate resort.
The grounds are absolutely beautiful, great food court, boat to DTD, all rooms have been renovated and have queen beds.

The common areas of CBR are really lovely but I find the rooms kind of blah & the food court is just "okay" IMO. The pool at CBR is impressive if that is important to you.

Thank you so much.

I have stayed at both (cbr 2x, por 3x) and I love them both!

Cbr is lush and green and we love the beaches with lounge chairs and hammocks. We also love it that each "village" has its own quiet pool, beach and bus stop.

It has a zero entry main pool with several slides, as well as the height redtrictef splash area for younger kids. I think for kids under 10 this is the best pool on property. Although my teenagers had fun at that main pool too, but I do think its a bit geared to younger kids. Which.is why the large quiet pools are so nice.

The rooms are the largest moderate rooms by a bit and every bit can count when you have a family in one room!

I love having a very good view of the high up fireworks of Illuminations from various places around the resort. Dh and I enjoyed sharing a hammock on the beach in Jamaica last March to view the stars and it was also a good spot to see those fireworks. It was heaven!

Negatives are few, but I will mention that it only has the double beds and I think the foodcourt is too small and lacks enough variety (good food though. All in all, we love cbr!

Por is probably my favorite resort. Love the theming, the river and the grounds. In my opinion, it has the best foodcourt on property. You also have pofq's food court a short walk or boatride away. We love the main pool, its got a longer slide than cbr's but only one slide.

We love the boatride to dtd, its a very pretty ride.

All rooms have queen beds and have been recently refurbbed.

My few negatives are that I find the layout confusing, some areas in the Alligator Bayou section are remote to say the least. I also think it could use a few more quiet pools. So while I give the edge to POR for its main pool (I have older kids), I give CBR the edge for the quiet pools.

We love both, both are spread out and have multiple bus stops, we have had no problems with bussing at either. Both are laid back with lovely grounds.

I think either is great, but if you have young kids, the pool at cbr is hard to beat (not that por's pool isnt also fun too). Por's recently redone rooms with queen beds are also hard to beat!
