My mother and 2 sisters are planning a trip to wdw at the end of Sept. beginning of Oct. We are looking for a 2 bdr condo that is close and easy driving to wdw, we will have a rental car. I also would like a resort that my mother would be able to enjoy some down time in. I worry that long, long hours in the park will poop her out. She has not ever been on a real grand vacation, and I would like this to be really special for her.

Windsor Palms is a new resort very close to Disney (10 minutes tops) which has both homes and condos. You can check out some of them here.

We just booked a 3-bedroom, 2-bath condo at Windsor Palms for November for $90/nite. I saw listings for 2-br for as little as $55. The resort is new, opened last year. Has a community pool, clubhouse, pool tables, ping pong, movie theater, etc. I would definitely check it out.

westgate is very close to WDW property line - now if you want to stay at Westgate is another story.

If you know how to say "NO!" and mean it. They generally have some great deals.

there are several timeshares located close to WDW

www.floridakiss.com

go to this website - ask for the free vacation planning kit - it is a magazine inside this is a great map - has all the hotels, condo, attractions - in and around Kissimmee. (Kissimmee is the town outside of Lake buena vista where WDW is located)

the Westgate is Westgate Vacation Villas

here are some other - all are timeshares in Lake Buena Vista
Marriott's Imperial Palms - at Orlando World Center Marriott
Marriott's Royal Palms - same place
Marriott's Sabal Palms - same place

Sheraton's Vistana Resort
Embassy Vacation Resort At Grand Beach

there are in Kissimmee
Silver Lake Resort
High Point World Resort
Barefoo'n in the Keys at Old Town
Grand Lake Resort

say which you are looking at and then I might be of more help

Vistani is reasonably close to Disney and generally gets good reviews.

MOWC (marriot world center) is very close to WDW. It is sometimes available on priceline if you feel like gambling?!

if you are only talking about 3 people - then I would stay at OKW in a studio (these rent for $10 a point - you can get a bargin if you look) so it should run you around $80 to $120 depending upon which DVC resort you get - in Sept, first two weeks of Dec and Jan.

OKW is the best bargin 8 points - all the other are 12 points a night.

these resorts are OKW, BCV (yes it is part of the BC/YC), BWV and VWL.

you can get 2 studios - OKW has 2 queen beds - the other places have a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa.

if you get 2 studios at OKW - then everyone gets their own bed.

You would be staying on WDW property so you get all the guest priviledges - which I think your mother would enjoy. My mother certainly does....

the studios comes with a toaster, mircowave, under the counter refrigerator, can opener, coffee maker - some paper plates, bowls, plastic knifes, yorks and spoons - 4 glasses and 2 mugs.
plus the stuff to clean up with.

there is a laundry - all the washers and dryers are free (because studios are not big enough to have a washer and dryer).

OKW are at the pools - so she could go swimming and do the laundry.

You would need to go to the DVC rent/trade board to see about renting those points from other owners to stay at OKW or any other DVC resorts on points.
