Which resort would you say would be the best for resale in 15 years in relation to the cost to buy it today?
SSR
Poly
BLT
CC - We will likely stay in studios for all trips, so this one may not even be a contender due to what I’m hearing about studios being so hard to book at 11 months.
Thanks!

My vote would be BLT it’s got an excellent location, long contract and a mix of room sizes which Poly lacks.

Both Poly and BLT are good choices. SSR is tough to use for studios. You really need to buy where you want to stay for that.

I vote Poly. It's about the same price as BLT, with 6 extra years on the contract. Also, BLT theming is not my jam, and I love Poly.

Drawback is the chart. If your goal is value, the BLT studios will be much cheaper, because they cost so much less points.

In 15 years, SSR will only have 18 years left on it. While 18 years is still a long time, it's likely that it's value will start to drop because people will be making the same arguments about SSR that they do about the 2042 resorts today. Of course with inflation and rising costs, this probably means on a pure dollar value, you may get what you pay today, just it'll be $100-$120 in 2036's dollars.

BLT will have 24 years remaining; PVB 30; and CCV 32. They'll all probably hold value well, though you will likely get people starting to look sideways at BLT in terms of length of contract vs length of contract of PVB & CCV. That said, it's location will always give it a edge, just like BWV & BCV.

While PVB's point chart is not as favorable as BLT and CCV, and it doesn't offer 1BR or 2BRs, I think it will likely retain its value because it has a lot of nostalgia value and is well-loved, and it's location between MK and EPCOT on the monorail is great. It has very large studios, and is the only DVC resort to offer *connecting* studios.

CCV has a great point chart compared to BLT and PVB, and is also in a good location. I think as the 2042 resorts disappear, it's point chart will position it to be of higher value long-term (and it has a 2068 expiration). Studios are an issue, but a family wanting a low point studio in a great location will therefore be driven to purchase at CCV, since you won't be able to get studios reliably at 7 months unless you own there.

I think any of PVB, BLT, or CCV will hold value, and I'd be cautious about SSR. If it were me, I'd likely buy CCV first, PVB next.

Agree 100% with your point about the CCV point chart.

Is there a list somewhere that states how many of each type of room are at each of the DVC resorts? Since I want to book studios during school breaks or the holidays, I think I need to pay attention to this. Thanks!

Scratch this, I found something online!

Actually SSR is easy to book for studio's, I believe you mean CCV is tough to book for studios.

The renovated studios at SSR is a big improvement over the non-renovated units.

I own at BLT and CCV. I love both of them! I have owned at BLT since 2009 and have not had any issue getting the room I want when I wanted it. We stayed in studios much of the time.

I have only tried booking at CCV twice since owning there. We stayed in a 2 bedroom in summer 2019 and didn't have any trouble booking that. In 2021 we are staying in a cabin. Those are pretty easy to book at the 7-month mark. Going forward, we are going to be in 2 bedrooms. I have checked in a couple of times to see what the availability is. Rooms at CCV were available at the 11-month mark, but disappeared pretty quickly. So, by 10 months it was slim pickings.

I would say CCV though Poly would be close behind.

If you can book right at 11 months a CCV studio should be doable even at holidays. Availability is typically more challenging when resorts are new, but becomes easier over time. Also if Reflections is ever built that will likely ease demand.

I was originally set on SSR due to price, but I feel like we will get more back at resale on a longer contract since I doubt we will own it more than 15 years. I was leaning PVB, but the point chart is so much. I am Type A and plan my vacations super far in advance, so I know I’ll be right on there at 11 months. Do you think I’d be okay grabbing a studio at the 7 month mark for Feb and April northeast school vacations? It seems that I may have luck grabbing studios at Poly and BLT at the 7 month mark if we wanted, so I didn’t know if it made sense to buy there since that is a possibility.

Except for Easter week you should be able to, though it will be more likely if you have flexibility as to view

I meant SSR is tough to use for studios at desirable properties. I say that as a SSR owner who has never even been to SSR.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I've used SSR points for studios before, but it's not a great strategy, and who knows how it will look in 5-10 years. Better to pay a little more and know you'll be able to book a studio, if you don't want to play SSR 1BR grab bag at 7 month.

For a small contract aimed at staying in studios, I think Poly will be the best resale value in 15 years. For a larger contract aimed at 1+ BR, go for BLT.

BLT..POLY...CCV.....................SSR

BLT is your best bet if all you care about is long term resale value. Its not impacted by any changes to resort transportation, any buyer could use it, its room spread is better than POLY/CCV, and much of its value is based on people wanting to stay there.

Now I personally always had reservations on BLT and after seeing it in person during a recent room tour I wouldn't want it as a home resort.

In 15 years the discussion on 2042 expiration and SSR losing its ability to book at 7 months will likely be all the rage causing it to further be devalued. Look at how low VWR is right now and thats a beloved resort by many with more space than CCV and easier booking.
