Which resort has the nicest beds?

Okay, we recently came back from a weekender to Universal (luckily pre-Wilma, barely). Boy, were we disappointed! Good news is that my husband has finally developed an appreciation for Disney. I knew he'd come around! In fact, we hadn't planned on a trip until the kids turn 5 but now, he wants to go sooner.

Here's the catch. The last two times we went away somewhere, we stayed in hotels with marvelous beds (we were at the Peabody Orlando last week, prior to that was the Hyatt in NYC). Now, DH is adamant that we go to a place with great beds, or he won't go at all. I can certainly understand that. After all, good sleep left us so refreshed for another full day of hard core touring without skipping a beat.

So which resorts have the best beds? I hear the value ones just aren't worth it. Are the mods good (not just okay, DH is spoiled now) or do you really have to go to Deluxe in order to get a bed that a chiropractor-loving DH would appreciate? How are the beds in the cabins at FW?

I'd appreciate any thoughts you may have. The bed will make or break an argument to stay onsite (and I really really do want to stay onsite!)

Thanks!

No debate here, Swan and Dolphin have the best beds! They are called Heavenly beds and they are wonderful. Plush, pillowtop mattress, double sheeted and wonderful down pillows and comforters. The only down-side is that I have a hard time dragging myself out of them to make it to EMH in time.

Absolutely... Swan & Dolphin!!

As Opal said.. they are called Heavenly beds.. and for a good reason. The Swan has Queen beds, and Dolphin has oversized full.. which seemed pretty darn big to me last November. They are sooooooooo wonderful. Down, down, down!! It IS hard to drag yourself out of them in the morning!!

Agreed. Experienced them for the first time last week and they truly are Heavenly! :cloud9:

Swan & Dolphin!!! Also the Radisson Resort Parkway has the sleep number that you can request- they are a more low cost option but of course offsite!

I remember reading that the GF also had nice beds.

I considered the Swan because of the comfy beds, but after all the mold reports, I am glad I didn't.

Swan and Dolphin without question -- I had a hard time getting my kids (and DH) up in the morning to hit the parks!

Any votes for the mods? Swan and Dolphin are a little pricey for us. We are able to score 4* hotels off Priceline. The mods are more in our range. Are there any comparable to the Heavenly beds?

Westin Resorts have beds that they call the Heavenly Beds... maybe they are somehow connected... but those are pretttttttttyy nice :goodvibes

I've stayed at several Hyatts, Marriotts, Hiltons... you name it, and last year we stayed at the CBR. I can't remember it being great, but I can't remember it being bad... so, if you can just go with a Moderate Resort, I would.

Allearsnet.com has great special rates at the Swan and Dolphin :earsgirl:

Either way... like my fiancee says... if you are going to do a lot of walking around the parks, you might feel 'beat up' the next day either way :rotfl:

Being Starwood Property owners we have stayed in many Heavenly beds and they are very nice but they don’t beat the new beds that the Polynesian got this summer and I believe the GF got the same beds recently.

So if you want what I consider the best bed I have slept in anywhere around the world try the beds at the Polynesian or the GF.

I've never had issues at any of the resorts listed below in my tagline. Then again, once my head hits a pillow I'm out like a light.

No doubt about it--the Swan and Dolphin are great and the discounts they offer make them affordable.

I agree with the majority on this one: Swan and Dolphin! I do love the heavenly beds, but I have to say that nothing can beat my Select Comfort (i.e., Sleep Number) bed at home. Since I got my bed a little over a year ago, I have become a huge "bed snob". I was very happy to hear that Radisson is adding them to their properties. I might even consider staying offsite at the Radisson Parkway, and up until now I have always been a WDW property kind of a gal.

For moderates we've stayed at POR and POFQ. We have a sleep number bed at home so we are ususally not happy with hotel beds. We didn't like or dislike POR - they were okay, but nothing special. We stayed at PORQ after the rehab and they have new pillow top beds. They were so awesome. We loved them. We switched to AKL half way through and my DH wanted to go back because he missed the beds - LOL. WL and AKL weren't our favorite bed - they were a little hard. BWI beds were better. I am hoping GF beds are great - thats were we are staying next.

We stayed at POFQ in Sept for 8 nights (rooms were just recently refurbished). I could not believe how nice the bed were. In fact my MIL wrote down the name of the matress so she could buy one. I have mentioned this a few times since our trip on other thread in this forum. They really are great and POFQ is a great place to stay. We are going back in Feb for our 30th anniv trip... :flower:

I loved the CR and Dolphin in WDW

I'm surprised you didn't like Universal, We stayed at HRH twice and beds were awesome. especially with that down comforter. Room space was double the size of any moderate in disney..

very surprised you didn't like the rooms.

where did you stay?

I agree that the POFQ beds were extremely comfy, and I, too, am a bed-snob!!! Gf's beds are comfy, too. However, if you are looking for a moderate resort, POFQ is the way to go. (Incidentally, it is also a beautiful resort!)
