I am planning a trip to WDW :woohoo: for 5 of us, DH, DM, DD 18, DS 16, and Myself. Which would be the cheapest onsite resort that would fit all of us. I was thinking of a family suite at ASMU but after reading other posts it seems that other resorts might be a cheaper option for us. We will only be using our room to sleep and shower so not fussy on room type or size. We would rather use the money we save for other treats popcorn:: . We are coming off season.

Thanks:thumbsup2

I don't think you'll do any better than a family suite, or two rooms at a value.

You might also consider a cabin at the Fort Wilderness campground.

The DVC resorts have 2-bedroom villas that would hold your party, and 1-bedroom villas at AKV and BLT that would sleep 5, but they're going to be far more expensive than either the family suite, or two rooms at a value.

Technically, POR prices out lower.

But someone has to sleep on a trundle bed. Since your youngest is 16 years old, I vote for the Family Suites.

Plus, with 2 teenagers, that extra bathroom is a real plus!!! So is the fridge!

You have four adults.

The current lowest possible price for a room at Port Orleans Riverside (the only Moderate that will accommodate five people) is $149, plus $15 per additional adult per night - so your cost per night would be $179 for a 314 square foot room with two double beds, a pull-out trundle, a coffee maker, a dorm-size fridge, and one bathroom.

The lowest price for a Family Suite is $184 per night; suite holds up to six people in 520 square feet of living space; one queen bed in the bedroom, one fold-out sofa, one fold-out chair, and one fold-out ottoman (all, according to reports, reasonably comfortable and without the infamous metal bar runnng across one's back making sleep difficult or painful); includes a kitchenette with storage/sink/counter, microwave, coffee maker... and TWO bathrooms.

We are 5 but we are 2 adults nad 3 little kids. We are staying at the POR but they told us when we booked that in order to have 5 in the POR rooms the 5the guest that sleeps on the trundle must be under 9 and under 5 feet tall.

So that wouldn't work for you. I think you need 2 rooms or a family suite somewhere.

Go over to the DVC rental board and see what is available for your time frame. You may very well be able to get a 2br DVC resort for less than you would a moderate or Family Suites at the All Stars. It will depend on your vacation and how long you intend to stay. Sunday - Thursday stays are less points than Fri and Sat. Just a suggestion.

Is this very difficult to do? I would love to stay in a 2-br DVC instead of a moderate or family suite, but it seems like this would be a hassle :confused3

Personally, I think I would pick two rooms at a value over the family suite. You don't get the microwave, but you have four actual beds (not pull-outs) and you have your choice of any of the values.

Have you looked into the suites at CSR? I'm not sure how much more they are, but I think they sleep more than the ASMu suites. Plus, it's a moderate so you'd at least have the refrigerator (I'm not sure about microwave).

Because of your group, I would probably go with two connecting at a value. That way the girls can be in one room and the guys in another. Otherwise, was mom going to stay in a room with the kids????

I have stayed in a suite at CSR. I did enjoy the space and two bathrooms, however it was quite pricey. We did request a microwave at check-in and it was delivered promptly.

Connecting rooms are NEVER guaranteed (despite what's said on the phone or computer-generated on a confirmation) but the OP's party is among the LEAST likely too-many-people-for-one-room parties to get connecting rooms.

If there are four rooms available a given resort, with two connecting to each other and two not, and you have the OP's party wanting connecting rooms and, um, nickoftime's (post # 12) party wanting connecting rooms, nickoftime would be far more likely to get the connecting rooms - since they've got three small children, while the OP has four adults and one older teen.

I'm just sayin'... ;)

We're a family of 5. We just stayed at the Dolphin for the first time and LOVED it. We have stayed at POR 4 times, and Ft. Wilderness cabins once. Would be hard to stay anywhere else other than the Dolphin again to be honest. If you are a teacher, nurse, or goverment employee, you can't beat the price. I got it for $130 a night the week of Thanksgiving!!

Yeah, seeing as DD is 18 she is an adult.

That would be 4 adults and 1 child. Though you are not 100% guaranteed connecting rooms at a value resort they will get you as close as possible.

4 adults and a big child at POR would be real tight. If you get two rooms at a value resort you get 4 real beds.

I know that the group is not guaranteed a connecting at a value. But, just trying to figure the best place for the group. POR would be so cramped - we were cramped there with 5 - 3 small kids at the time. Any one room would have privacy issues and it just seems with mom and teenagers that would not be good.

One room at POR is not an option because they are 5 adults according to Disney rules. All over 10. An adult would not fit on the trundle.

age 10 to 17 is junior
age 18+ is adult

For the meal plan 10+ is adult.
