Which resort didnt live up to your expections..

I know this is not what you asked, but it may help any way. Fortunately, I loved all my visits.

My first stay was POFQ. Loved it, it was the smallest resort I have stayed on site and had a very nice charm to it. This resort was my third favoriate.

My second on-site stay was CBR. This resort is my second favoriate. The resort is very big, but the walkways are absolutely beautiful and tranquil. The only very small complaint, was I wished the main pool was bigger, but it is still a great pool.

My third, fourth, fifth and soon to be sixth on site stay was Pop Century. My Favoriate Resort out of the three I have stayed at. I LOVE this place, it has the greatest atmosphere and it feels more like one of the parks then a resort. The food court is awesome and the main pool is outstanding.

The GF in my books had too many problems that even when talking to several managers about them & nothing was done.

I felt this way too. Although it was a stunning resort (we stayed RPC), in fact I fell in love with the resort itself, I found a number of the cast members seriously lacking in their knowledge of how to deal with guests.

I know you can get bad cast members at any resort but I've never encountered them at my 2 favourite resorts, Yacht Club and Boardwalk Inn.

My only slight dissapointment out of all my stays was the decor
of the yacht club rooms.
this is supposed to be one of the best.....if felt bare bones to me.The view was outstanding though

Definately OKW. Yuck. Another poster nailed it when they said "it felt like an apartment complex". EVERYTHING was too far from where we were. And that bus system, with the turning around in the parking lots. Rediculous.

Really? I am posting the opposite. I thought the lobby was very nice, but the room was awful. I guess that decor does not impress me -- beachy and the beds were very uncomfortable -- especially the daybed. We have five in our party, and have to use the daybed. We stayed at AKL and absolutely loved it -- including the daybed/couch -- very unique -- but the daybed at BC was simply a wooden bench with a foam mat on it and it was short. My daughter -- who is only 5'2" was too long for the daybed -- kept hitting her head on the wood. I would go back for the pool, definitely, and the location of the resort, but probably would request two rooms so no one had to sleep on the daybed.

We had one of the rooms on the top floor facing the Boardwalk and the view was spectacular. You could see the fireworks from Epcot too!! There were only the two of us at the time (no kids yet). The lobby was mobbed with kids and no comparison to AKL's lobby. Just boring to us. We never got that "resort" feeling at BC.

Value: POP, ASMU ASMO

Villas: OKW, SSR, VWL, BCV, BWV

For my husband and I it would be the Poly, hands down. We really, really wanted to love this resort. It was just such a big let down for us. The rooms are a good size, but the decor was just so so. I didn't care for the bath set up. Our a/c was loud and didn't cool well. The room did have a funky smell to it. The pool "deck" area is way to small for a resort this size. There just isn't much room for lounge chairs. I did miss not having a hot tub. We just felt for the cost of the resort, it just wasn't worth it. Now on the possitive side, I do love walking around this resort at night. It is very beautiful and romantic. The location of this resort is great with the monorail and you can walk to the TTC.

Then was the trip in March 2007 concierge level in the Sugar Loaf building at $630/night!!!! My husband booked the trip as a surprise and thought we were to be in the main building again. They never told him otherwise, and never mentioned the Sugar Loaf bldg, so he assumed main building. That was disappointing and, I feel, a little misleading. The room was not that clean. The fixtures were very dusty. It was as if they only hit the easy spots cleaning and never did any deep cleaning at all. We had to call housekeeping 3 times to get them to clean the balcony where a previous guest had spilled soda all over the place. In my opinion, that should have been done before we checked in. In the end, housekeeping did a poor job of it and I ended up going behind them with a wet washcloth myself. All that for $630!!!!

That's about how much the honeymoon suite was in August 1998. But it was the one in the main building, concierge and turret suite. Amazing view of 7 Seas and Cinderella Castle! Now that was a great room, but like you, I would have felt ripped off for the room you got! Cripes!

It was the CR for me. All that money to try a deluxe and I really didn't care for it at all.

It makes me laugh that peolple going to WDW can actually complain about walking at a resort. I lost count on how many times I read, "It was to far of a walk to the pool", "The elevators are to far" The parking lot/bus stop was to far" and of course "The walk from my room to the food area was so long". For people with medical issues I understand, but the majority do not have these issues. We stayed at POR Riverside and was in the back of the resort, it took a "whole(sarcastic)" 8 minutes to walk to the food court. My family enjoyed the walk, after all day at the parks it was a way to unwind before we got to our room. When it rained, I turned into a little 47 year old kid and grab my daughters hand and hit every puddle we see We go by a simple model "you get out of your vacation what you put into it". I hope this does not offend anyone.

I completely agree! I especially like your " you get out of your vacation what you put into it". I totally think your attitude impacts your outcome,not only on vacation but in life as well!

The Poly Concierge with Castle View. I booked for my husband's 40th birthday. We were so excited to go and realized after 3 nights that we really are an Epcot Resort Area Family. The rooms were not impressive to us and the CM's were less than happy to assist in anything. The CM actually made an error on our bill of over $600 and it took me 4 months and 3 supervisors to finally have it corrected. Once they realized what I was saying was correct, the final supervisor was so apologetic and offered to refund the actual money owed and also refund an additional night. I basically said I just wanted the money due to us and did not take the extra money.

It was such a disappointment to us and for the first time I will say we did not feel the magic.

In defense of Poly... I should mention that it was the weekend after Hurricane Katrina and that Friday night the horrible stories started coming in about the devestation, so as a family we were conflicted to be spending in such excess when so many were suffering.

That said, I do agree with MomofCKJ and Allison.

I completely agree! I especially like your " you get out of your vacation what you put into it". I totally think your attitude impacts your outcome,not only on vacation but in life as well!

Polynesian for me. I read way too many positive posts here before we went, so my expectations were probably too high. I was expecting heaven, and I did get the great location and decent pool, but no playground, a dark room (there was a tree in front of our balcony) and only one sink (a family of four needs two).

For us it was the Grand Floridian. We just felt it was too overpriced for what you get. The transportation to MK is great though. The rooms were pretty but not as spacious as we had hoped or expected. We were in Boca Chica which was a long walk to the food court and the transportation. At the end of the day when your feet are tired it is no fun to have to walk that far to get your mug refilled! The other thing that bothered me was the pool in front of Boca Chica - at night there would be a ton of teens in the pool and a lot of empty food trays all over the tables. While this is not the fault of the resort, just rude guests, it was still annoying to have to walk through it each evening.

I would like to stay there if we stayed in the main building, but I just cannot justify the price.

I'm happy to say we have been pleased with all the Disney resorts we have stayed at. They are: Pop, POR 2x, CSR, YC, WL, and Poly 4x. Things have happened at almost all the resorts involving rudeness or unfriendliness of CMs, noisy neighbors, and things like that, but the resorts themselves were ok.

If one of them did not live up to my expectations, I would say POLY. I guess with what they charge, I was surprised that the front desk CMs acted like they'd rather be anywhere else (this was four stays 1999, 2002, 2003, and 2004). The resort is overpriced, but I researched it to death before going and knew I was paying for the amazing location, not the 70s decor.

We look forward to trying different resorts. Reading this thread gives us some insight as to what to expect.

Well, this is a weird answer, I suppose, but I have two.

Pop Century: I went in there expecting more of the same in the likes of the All Stars, except I expected it to be BETTER (cause it was newer, etc.). I came away wishing I'd stayed at the All Stars. The atmosphere at Pop was too crazy. It was too loud and garish. I like All Star Music, and for some reason, it seems so much quieter by comparison than Pop. I hated everything about the Pop. I just can't understand how people like it.

I agree with you on Pop Century. The resort itself is fine, but I think they've reached critical mass on the transportation system with that many rooms.

Even an hour after evening EMH, the lines to the buses were still packed. We never had that problem at All-Stars.

For us, it would be a tie between Pop and Coronado:

Pop - expected at least an All Stars type experience. After the hype of it being new, maybe we even expected more. Check-in was over an hour, the transpo was a nightmare (too many people, not enough busses), and the food court was a major disappointment.

Coronado - We went right after it opened. It was more convention oriented than Disney themed, and there was no plan for handling the convention swarms when they broke for the day. Completely overloaded the busses if you happened to be riding them around that time. We have liked each of the other moderates, in their own way, but not Coronado.
