It makes me laugh that peolple going to WDW can actually complain about walking at a resort. I lost count on how many times I read, "It was to far of a walk to the pool", "The elevators are to far" The parking lot/bus stop was to far" and of course "The walk from my room to the food area was so long". For people with medical issues I understand, but the majority do not have these issues. We stayed at POR Riverside and was in the back of the resort, it took a "whole(sarcastic)" 8 minutes to walk to the food court. My family enjoyed the walk, after all day at the parks it was a way to unwind before we got to our room. When it rained, I turned into a little 47 year old kid and grab my daughters hand and hit every puddle we seeWe go by a simple model "you get out of your vacation what you put into it". I hope this does not offend anyone.
I love it and totally agree. This is a complaint I have never been able to understand. Disney is a place of long walks so to say the room is a long walk, the food court is a long walk, the pool is a long walk, etc is a complaint I've never quite understood. Heck, we would race the elevator by taking the stairs up and laugh when we could beat grandma to our floor. I can certainly understand those with medical issues and they should be accommodated by having a room as close to the lobby as humanly possible. But as I always tell my kids when we have a long walk, "you've got two legs and a heartbeat, start walking." Hope I don't offend anyone as that is certainly not my intention.

I never laughed so hard as I was reading your post. The sounds made me have Post-Tramatic-Stress-Disorder flashbacks to our last year's trip. I just had to chuckle.
The only reason we chose POP was for the heralded dedicated bus line. We heard raves about how much better it was because it didn't have to share a route. One problem: everyone and their dog was wanting the dedicated bus route. The lines for the bus were longer than ANY line in the parks. Then we had to cram in sooo tight, I felt I was cheating on my wife. Not to mention, the actual bus stop was the furthest away from every park entrance. Horribly inconvienent. If we ever do a value again...not likely...we will do one of the others.
My cousin and I are a year in age apart, grew up together and have totally different tastes in resorts.
She hates CBR and loves CSR. CBR is one of our favorites and I cant stand CSR. I love AKL and could take or leave WL. She loves WL and is not a big fan of AKL. So dont worry if someone doesnt like the resort your staying at ..you may love it.![]()
Our next trip is to the Boardwalk Inn...my cousin said "Its a great resort"...
I might check out the Beach club instead!![]()

I hate to say this but it was the Poly. We stayed there 10 years ago for my 30th birthday. The room was very dirty, spiders/webs had to be removed from the corners of the room, the light fixture fell off the wall over the bed.....Captain Cook's was closed due to refurbishment and the pools were closing early because of the mosquitos. We were very disappointed with our stay overall.
Now 10 years later we are trying it again!. Even back then I loved the grounds and I know the rooms have been updated in the last 2 years. We want to be on the monorail and in 2006 we stayed at the Contemporary. Time to try the Poly again.
Yours gave me flashbacks. We didn't mind Pop itself too much last year, BUT the bus lines were horrible!!!! Worst at all the parks every time we were going and coming from the parks and DTD for our entire visit!!! DH says he is never going back to WDW without a rental car.

It must depend on where you're from. I'm from the midwest and I feel like all I ever see is snow. I thought CSR was almost TOO colorful! I love the vibrant colors and didn't think it was bland at all. However, if one is used to it, it might not have the same magic. It's so completely different than what I am used to that it's just wonderful for meCSR. We love southwestern theming. Our home office is southwestern themed and we love collecting things from the different southwestern cultures. The resort, while beautifully landscaped, was not what we were expecting. The room was bland, a term I am borrowing from another poster. The lobby and registration areas could have been brought more to life. The convention aspect did not bother us, and we were not expecting any Disney whimsy so that didn't bother us either. We just couldn't figure out why the room was so boring, no color, no artistry, no design. The furniture was very worn, the paint chipping. Just not what we expected.
My only slight dissapointment out of all my stays was the decor
of the yacht club rooms.
this is supposed to be one of the best.....if felt bare bones to me.The view was outstanding though![]()
