Which Resort at Christmas?

Just came up with an idea for another WDW trip before our AP's have to be renewed. I thought I might take my little sister (20) for a few days before Christmas. Maybe Dec. 17-22. Am I crazy? I know this is the most packed and expensive time of year. Since she's in college I'll be paying for most of this trip (including air fare) so which resort? I was thinking WL might be nice - it seems kind of "Christmasy," but I think that's as expensive as I'll be able to go this trip. Is there any moderate that anyone has really enjoyed during a Christmas trip? I'd rather not be at a Value. I guess it's silly to hope that there will be AP rates out. Maybe Santa will come early and we can spring for GF. Thanks for any advice or suggestions.:D

I think it sounds like a very nice Christmas present for your sister. I would also say it is not out of the realm to hope for AP discounts as they've been offered for the past two years with checkins up to Christmas day. If offered the WL would be an awesome choice as the Christmas pics I've seen from inside the WL are gorgeous. We're planning our first Christmas trip so I haven't seen any resorts decorated in person however, if we were looking at moderates, we would look seriously at POR-FQ just because I think it's a pretty resort.

We, my family and I, took our first ever Xmas trip this past Xmas. Our favorite hotel is POR, but I figured it was a short trip and we should try someplace new. I booked us at Coronado Springs Resort. It was nice, but I wouldn't stay there again for Xmas. We had breakfast one morning at POR, and it was very beautiful, with it's Xmas decorations. If I had it to do again, I would just stay at POR. I've never stayed at a Deluxe, so I can't give any opinions on them.

Thanks for the replies. Has anyone ever stayed at BWI during Christmas? I was thinking this would be a more relaxed, "girl-time" trip rather than spending a whole lot of time in the parks, so it would be nice to be close to a lot of dining and entertainment options. We're going to BCV summer of 2005, so I'm not all that interested in BC or YC. Oooohhh - this is sooooo much fun. I love the beginning stages of planning!

Sorry - one more question. I've read that if your stay starts in one season (for instance, our Christmas stay would start during value season) then you get to apply that rate to your entire stay. Is this correct? If so, GF, Here I Come!;)

Yes,thats correct. Thats what happened to us this past Christmas. We stayed 3 nights at AKL and the first night was before the rates went up,,so we got that great rate for all 3 nights!! We went to Epcot, and it was NOT crowded at all.(chilly, but not crowded.)I'd recommend WL,,we ate at Whispering Canyons, and the lobby, etc. was decorated just beautifully! But they decorate them ALL beautiful,so wherever you stay,i'm sure you won't be disappointed. We were there the wknd before Christmas, and it wasn't that crowded. I think its the week b/t Christmas and New Years that it gets real bad. Book now and keep your eyes and ears open for good rates!

that is so nice of you to take your sister!! the value season ends on 12/19/2004. and as long as you book the first day of your stay on the 19th or before, then you get the value rate for your whole stay!! that makes the WL standard view $199 a night for the value rate!! if you booked your stay after the 19th, then the holiday rate is 324 a night for the same room!! I would book now to make sure you get the good rates!!

good luck,
Kellie:sunny:
