Which rates apply when vacation spans seasons?

My husband and I would like to take the kids to DW next December-ish. How do you know which rates apply when your vacation spans the low and holiday seasons? Do the rates apply depending on the date? For instance if the first 3 days is during low season, low rates apply until holiday rates kick in. Or does the one rate take precedence based on some rule, like the rate represented by the most days or the rate that applied at check-in/check-out....etc.

In the past it has been that if you check in during say, value season, that's what your rate will be for the entire trip. Even if it's just value season for your first night...the rest was at value rates. But, since I bought DVC its different...they charge nightly for whatever the season is for that night. So, it may have changed for the regular resorts.

I spoke with WDT yesterday and they said the rate you get is the rate that applies the day you check in. I'm not a DVC member so as another poster mentioned they do it differently for those folks.

This is correct - the rate you will receive for the length of your stay is based on the season of your check-in date.

If you will be checking in during a more expensive season, and then it switches to a cheaper season during your stay, you can make two seperate reservations, so as to take advantage of the lower rate. And generally, if you have them note that you are making a continuing reservation, they will let you stay in the same room, although they will make you go through the check-in/check-out process.

we have dec 19th to the 26th of 2006 booked and the 19th is the last day of value. we get that rate the whole week, which is why we are going that day!!!!
