We will be staying 6 days at PO in April. We would like a Mansion room on the first level. We would prefer non smoking but it would not matter if we could get a great room either facing the river or being able to walk out the door and be at a quiet pool. We would also like to be fairlly close to the restaurant. We really do not want to be facing the parking lot. We would appreciate your help and if you have room numbers that would be great too.

Thanks for any help you can give us.

When it was called Dixie Landing we stayed in Magnolia, ( I think).
It was right across a short bridge to the main pool and food court was down a short path a lil further, the quiet pool was right beside it. I t was close to bus stop. The flowers in the court yard were beautiful. I'll check to see if it still has the same name. I really wouldn't stress about river view. Talk with the CM about your requests and wishes. Thats what I did and we were 4 rooms from the river on the first floor. With outside walkways passing in front of each room, river view is only a waste of $$. Have a great time! Our favorite thing to do every night was go for a swim then get the mugs a fill them with hot chocolate. The Kids loved it!!:Pinkbounc

There really aren't any that are a *short* walk from the restaurants, but the closest would be Magnolia Terrace.

Magnolia terrace is over a bridge from the lobby area on the other side of the pool and things. Also Parterre place isn't that far from everything, it's over a bridge on the far side of the main building.

We stayed at Parterre Place in November, it was really nice, non smoking and very clean. It's the most ornate of the mansions. It's a very big building and some parts are closer to the bridge then others, if you request it ask to be near the bridge. I also thought Magnolia terrace was pretty too.

Just to let everyone know, the Magnolia Terrace Building was closed during our stay from 2/23/03-3/2/03. We had requested the Magnolia Terrace Building ahead of time, but when we checked-in we learned that they had put us in the Acadian House building instead because the Magnolia Terrace Builing was closed. I didn't ask why it was closed. Crowds were extremely low. Perhaps it was closed due to low attendance levels or perhaps it was closed for refurbishment. I really don't know. If anyone has their heart set on the Magnolia Terrace building, they may want to call ahead to see if it will be open during their stay before requesting it.

We have stayed in Acadian House & Oak Manor. Both were lovely but I prefer Acadian House. We were steps from a bus stop and the walk to the main building seemed shorter. Not that the walk was long from Oak Manor but I still liked Acadian. (However it was shorter to get to a quiet pool from Oak Manor.)

I really enjoyed my 2 stays in Parterre Place. I asked for the side nearest the quiet pool(got room #'s 9712 & 9715), so I was just a few steps from the little bridge going to the restaurant/marina. I thought it was a beautiful location and just a couple minutes walk to the food court, main bus stop and quiet pool. Also, we were very near the parking lot, which was great for us as we use our car frequently. This is a totally non-smoking building, which is very important to me.

Just to agree with Magnolia Terrace. I've stayed in all 4 mansions (separate trips!), and found MT the prettiest and most convenient.
