We are going to WDW July 19-26 and I was wondering which parks are good
(and bad) on certain days. We are going to the parks for 7 days and and planning on going to MK 3 times MGM 2 and Epcot and AK once each. We are also not getting park hopper becaue we are trying to keep the prices down.
Also if anyone has any favorite restaurants that are more of a value I am taking any and all suggestions.
Thanks!!!

:welcome: to the DISboards, lala!

Here's the Unofficial Guide's site, TOURING PLANS.

Restaurants are all pricey in WDW, but Boma I think is probably the best value I've experienced and the price is on the lower end as well as far as total price goes at WDW restaurants.

At Disney all the parks are great.. Everyone has there own favorite park.. I personally love Epcot, just because to me it doesn't seem as hectic as all of the other parks.. At Magic Kingdom you almost have to rush to be able to get on the rides you want.. At Epcot you can walk around and take your time to do and see what you want, you don't have to run to grab anything (EXCEPT FOR SORIN OR TEST TRACK).. Magic Kingdom always has a special place in my heart because I remember going with my brother and my parents when I was younger and then I went as an adult.. That will always be a great park to me.. Hollywood Studio's was not even built back then.. So we only had Epcot and Magic Kingdom.. Oh that brings back memories..

I don't know about your family, but I think most people agree that Epcot is more of a 2-day park than DHS (formerly MGM)

We've gone on a 10 day trip and completely skipped AK... that's how much our family dislikes it....

Honestly no one on this board knows enough about your family to give you advice on how to schedule your visit... I would suggest you not even try to do so... if you haven't been to any of the parks then plan on going to each one time at the start of your trip... then you can decide which ones you want to go back to after you've sampled each one. The only thing I would say is look at the park hours... AK tends to close earliest so if your family sleeps in late one day and you get a late start is would probably be the worst park for you to go to since would be primed for a late night run and limited by a park that would close early.

In fact... in your first days there you will have a day when you are in a resting mood and don't want to do a lot... that would be the day to go to AK, because there isn't much there and you'll finish it all and have plenty of time to go back to your room and rest...

It's hard to say anything meal wise in Disney is a good value... everything is priced as crazy as a coke and popcorn at the local theather... if your trying to keep costs down I would highly suggest you take some snacks with you into the park... if your pick on water, freeze some water bottles the night before and take those too.... As this sounds like your first time, are you planning on splurging and taking the kids to a character meal... if so, you should try to get reservations now for one of those days... Crystal palace for Lunch is probably the best value... the character would be Winnie the pooh and friends.... There aren't any good values character meal wise with lots of princesses, so I hope you don't have girls that are pushing for princess meals.... In general the character meals that are buffet style are your best value since you get as much as you want and what you want... Also the lunch is the better value... breakfasts aren't generally bad deals unless they are a buffet...

I don't really agree with the idea that Animal Kingdom is one to be finished quickly. I, personally, find a day at AK to be too short, because of the great rides that are there. Sure, you've got time to ride everything once (if it isn't too crowded or you get decent FastPasses) in a day, but with a great coaster like Expedition Everest and a great water ride like Kali River Rapids, multiple rides are a must, at least, for me and my sisters and brother in law. Plus, there's the Primeval Whirl in the Dinosaur section, which is the first and only wild mouse style rollercoaster I've ever ridden, and Dinosaur, which my mom loves to ride at least a couple of times. There are several good shows, too. I highly recommend "Flights of Wonder," and I've heard that the Lion King show is a must, though I've not actually seen it yet myself (I'm actually not a big show person). "It's Tough to Be a Bug" is a fun show, too, but it might not be ideal for really little ones.

My family tends to go in late summer, early fall, and I'm not sure if this holds true for more crowded parts of the year, but every time we go we ride Kali River Rapids just before closing time, and are permitted to stay in our boats for multiple rounds on the ride because there is no one in line. I'm fairly sure that those nights were on Extra Magic Hours. And getting wet at the end of the night works out really well, I think. I inherited the concept from my mother that it's best to save the water rides for the end of the day so that you don't have to walk around the park all wet. Plus, water rides typically have shorter queues at night, because the crowds ride in the heat of the day to get cooled off. As far as being cold after you get soaked at night, it'll happen. On Kali, though, when you're riding multiple times, you'll learn to appreciate the burning forest section of the ride for the heat generated by the fire. I don't think I've ridden it during the day, but I'd think that the fire under the Florida sun is a bit overbearing.

I guess I got off-topic with my second paragraph, but my point is that, if you like the more thrilling rides, and you're the kind of person who wants to ride the best rides multiple times, you might consider multiple visits to AK, or at least a visit on a night with Extra Magic Hours.

Oh, and I'm thinking the problem that most people have with AK is the traffic flow. It's not great. And it is worsened by how hot that park seems to get. Oddly, I kind of appreciate how hot it is in AK. Since the park is themed after tropical locales, I feel like it adds to the realism and ambiance. And, as far as ambiance, I think Animal Kingdom does an amazing job of convincing you that you're in Africa, or Southern Asia, or what have you. That is actually my favorite thing about the park.

we have been to disney befor but it has been 8 years i have been to all the parks and like each of them so we wont be skipping any ... we arnt bringing little kids so character meals arnt a big deal i was just wondering if anyone noticed if certain parks are better to go to specific days of the week not just based on emh or anything...

For us and our kids(7 and 9), our schedule is more like -
MK-2 days-One at the beginning of the trip and one at the end, with one being on a late EMH night. No way we could do three days here. One reason is we feel the food choices here are not that great and another is it seems to be the most stressful or tiring of the parks.
Epcot-2 days. It is really one of our favorites and it takes us two days to really feel we have enjoyed it to the fullest. We think Epcot has the best CS and TS meals by far and to see all of the shows and performers at leisure we like to do 2 days. Again, one at the beginning and one at the end and one being early EMH.
DHS-2 days. This is one of my kids favorite parks and to see all the shows and the rides several times as well as Fantasmic and the parades, we can fill 2 days here happily, one being late EMH.
AK- 1 day for us and it is really not an all day park for us. This is usually the day we go hang out and swim at the resort in the afternoon. Frankly, if we skipped this park altogether my kids would not really mind.
