Which park solo?

If you had a half day or whole day to solo, which park would you go to?

  • Magic Kingdom. Stick with the classics.

  • EPCOT. Visit the world!

  • MGM. HURRAY FOR HOLLYWOOD!

  • Animal Kingdom. Dude! Did that tree just move?!

  • Universal Studios. ET, MIB, we just name our attractions w/ acryonyms

  • Islands of Adventure. Harry who?

So I'm planning a trip in March to Disney. Since I'm planning 2 trips already for next year, I'm already planning on getting an AP for both Disney and Universal. On the March trip, I'm expecting some old friends from Atlanta to drive down and join me for the week. Me however? I'm flying down.

Looking at flights, I'm realizing that there is a good chance that I'll get to the area before noon. Check in at the resort isn't until later in the day, and my friends likely won't be getting into town until late afternoon/evening... so that leaves me several hours to enjoy by myself on a Sunday afternoon.

Of Course... I'm thinking... Why not go to a park!? Since I'll be getting an AP, I don't have to worry about the concern of wasting a day if my friends are earlier rather than later.

So.... what park would you think I should go to? and why? (Crowds / fun thing to do solo / etc)

I chose MK but you asked about the best thing to do solo. One of my favorite solo things to do is to ride my favorite ride over and over again. So my real answer to your question is ... pick your absolute favorite ride, go to that park, and ride the crap out of it. Have fun! :)

Ack! This is like Sophie's Choice!

Carousel of Progress is my favorite attraction in the whole world. But, I freakin' LOVE Epcot. Next to Disneyland in CA it's my favorite park. You know you love a park when you're content just being in it.

Sigh. I guess I choose Epcot. If I only had one hour in WDW, MK for sure. One full day? Epcot!

:rotfl: If this was an easy choice, I wouldn't be asking it.

I said AK, more to balance it out because I suspect it will end with Epcot in the lead. Both are visually rich and when you are talking to someone all the time you will appreciate all the intricacies that you can observe.

Okay, in all of WDW, what are your top 3:

Rides

Attractions (ex: American Adventure, Tiki Room)

Parade/Fireworks (ex: IllumiNations, Spectro)

Eateries

Go!

I'm not sure if i'll be there for parades/fireworks. My friends may have arrived in the area before it gets late. Afternoon parades I haven't actually sat around and watched since I was a kid, and I KNOW they've changed since then.

Eateries.... again, not sure if I'll be eating on site.

Favorite Attractions? I'm not sure I could really pick to be honest. So many choices that I enjoy for different reasons. themeing... Nostalgia... the actual ride.... addictive lyrics.... ability to cool off.... etc etc etc....

My favorite is AK.

I think you would be just fine on safari at Animal Kingdom... The animals won't care whether you are there solo or with a group!! =)

With the AP, you are free to visit the park without concern!

Go, go, go!!

I voted for Epcot because it is my favorite park and if I ever take a solo trip, I will be spending lots of time there.

Epcot is the one park where I spend the most time. This past trip I spent 3 of my 11 days at Epcot!

My favorite park was not listed on this poll.. i would have to say that my favorite thus far has been seaworld.. Have not gotten a chance to do disney world yet.. That is coming december 2011.

I actually had a hard time deciding which one to vote for. For me it really comes down to what am I in the mood for. Each of the parks has its own perk for me

For a situation like this, I'd actually wait till I arrive and then decide what I'm in the mood for. Maybe take the bus over to MK and then Monorail over to Epcot for the afternoon, or vice versa, and that's the beauty of an AP. You could decide that you want to stop in MK for a quick snack before moving over to another park. No Park Hopper worries either.

So my suggestion would be to be flexible and play it by ear and decide what time you've got when you arrive.

Relations are hopping around and new ones are still emerging. Tenley will be with WOW level, but he wants to sleep (In his defense, are looking more comfortable than the beds so they). Peyton is always a lot of attention from Jesse B. I thought you were two other decisions of the date. I thought to be perhaps something if they do not get me. I did not know she was planning to completely change allegiances to the insiders and turn on me. Once again Elizabeth is crying over Kovacs. She's gonna 'much more than a box of tissues to help her when - She's gonna' need a huge, padded box. Kovacs said Elizabeth ruined everything for him, and she says sadistic, that is to see a part of her that he liked to fight. So much love in the girl, how selfish of Kovacs, keep everything for themselves. Gia said she wants to Wes stood up to the last man to be. She told me that at one point ... and who knows who else. By the way, that's my guitar player Wes ... glad I could help him romance her. It is quite ironic that Gia Kiptyn asked for help, after the approval she wanted him to go home. Lesson from WOW level, not reveal your hand, as they at the beginning of the week. The cocktail party at the Rose Ceremony was crazy ... almost as crazy as is Elizabeth. And so do I have that limo ride of doom in the abyss ... where I will end up remains to be seen ...

Huh?

DC, I have checked in as early as 7 a.m. and my room was actually ready. No need to wait for actual "allowed" check in time. Even if it is not ready, just check in, they will give you a card with a number to call, or text you when your room is ready.

As for which park. . .hmmm, I would suggest that you do Animal Kingdom and take a camera. Walk the trails and see all the animals.

My other question would be to ask you where you are staying? That would greatly influence my choice for the short time. Though I will tell you that when I was staying at Pop one year, I was meeting a friend at pop who was getting in later. I took the bus to AK and rode EE, then went back to the hotel to meet my friend. I was gone about an hour and a half. It was a great moment.

I noticed a bunch of threads getting spammed.

I'm staying at the Wyndham Bonnett Creek, so I don't think i can check in early. When I stayed onsite a few years ago at the Poly I did do the early checkin bit, so I know onsite is a lot more flexible.

I voted for epcot since it is my fav and imo the best park in wdw. Tons to see and do there. Last visit to epcot, I decided to stay all day there from start to finish. I find there is a lot of things to do there and have no trouble enjoying every moment.

hey checked in early to Bonnet Creek - the room was not ready - but in an hour it was - so by noon had a villa.

Epcot. It is close to BC - the only park closer is Studios.

I didn't cast a vote.

Another option is to use that time to explore your resort. Check out the paths, pools, gift shops, whatever amenities the resort offers. Maybe find that shortcut to the cafe, or just relax and unwind with a drink by the pool. If your friends are really into the parks, this might be your only chance to really see your resort?

If you really want to hit a park ( and I admit, I usually do the first day too.) I would just pick what sounded best the day you got there.

When I went solo, the fist day I just picked the ride that sounded best, and went and did it over and over to my hearts content!

I'm staying at Wyndham Bonnett Creek.... and actually own there and have stayed before. I'm pretty familiar with the resort property itself and it's pretty simple as far as layout goes.
